When battling ex-colleagues that turned into ghouls, female D11 operator Seras Victoria is critically wounded. Alucard who accompanied her in the battle, turns her into a vampire to save her life.

Integra, the leader of the Hellsing organization, sends Alucard to the town of Cheddar to kill a vampire who, while posing as a priest, has killed several people from the town as well as a team of police who were sent to investigate. Also, Seras Victoria, a member of the D11 team that was sent in to clean up the situation, attempts to survive while fighting off her former teammates, who are now ghouls.—page8701

Background The Hellsing Organization aka The Royal Order of Protestant Knights (in some versions "Religious Knights"), run by the cigar-smoking Sir Integral "Integra" Wingates Hellsing, (great-granddaughter of the famous professor Abraham Van Helsing), is a special operations agency that searches for and destroys vampires. Ironically, their primary weapon is a vampire himself. Alucard (in some versions he is called "Arucard") is none other than Dracula himself. A "genuine" vampire, Alucard chooses to side with the Hellsing Organization in their fight against rogue vampires, artificial vampires, and other types of "maggots" that kill wantonly. He carries a Hellsing ARM454 Casull Automatic from the Hellsing Arms Weapon Industrials Co, Ltd., which fires a 13mm explosive round. A silver cross from the Great Lanchester Church was melted into the alloy for the bullets. Othertimes Alucard simply thrusts his white-gloved hand through the chests of vampires. Either way, the vampire is dispatched. Alucard is training and oftentimes aided by "police girl", Seras Victoria, who was turned by Alucard himself. As Master and Servant, Alucard and Seras are able to speak to each other telepathically.

A priest recently assigned to a church in the small village of Cheddar is suspected of being a vampire. One month after he arrived, people started disappearing. Local police conducted an investigation, but all of them were killed. London Police called in their D-11 special division, but half of their men were lost, too. What's worse, the survivors claim that they were attacked by the local police presumed killed. Consequently, the Hellsing Organization has been called in. When Integra hears about the situation, she explains to the lieutenant of the London Police Department that those killed were victims of a vampire and are now cannibalistic ghouls no longer human, so she calls in Alucard to handle it.

Meanwhile, D-11 "police girl" Seras Victoria is tending to her wounded partners after being attacked again. When everyone but Seras starts turning into ghouls and Seras realizes that guns don't stop them, she begins to run. Just as another ghoul lumbers toward Seras, Alucard appears and kills the ghoul. When Alucard refers to himself as a "bloodsucker," Seras shoots him in the chest, but he simply laughs. Looking for a place of refuge, Seras enters a church where she meets a priest. Since he is not like one of the ghouls, she refrains from shooting him, even though she knows that her mission involves apprehending a priest. Maybe it just isn't this one.

As the priest explains that the ghouls were leftovers from a vampire's previous meals, now simply animated corpses that do the vampire's bidding, he draws her closer. Not wishing to make a ghoul out of Seras, with her warm, sweet blood, the vampire priest caresses her neck. Suddenly, Alucard enters the church and begins ranting at the priest about him being a "maggot", "garbage", and "scum." The priest, decidedly bored with Alucard, snaps his fingers and his ghouls suddenly rise from the pews and open fire on Alucard. Riddled with holes, Alucard falls to the floor. Seras sighs. No savior there.

Right before their eyes, however, Alucard begins to pull himself back together. The priest orders his ghouls once again to kill Alucard, but Alucard pulls out his ARM454 Casull Automatic and shoots off their heads. Realizing that Alucard is a vampire like him, the priest tries to reason with Alucard and entice him into working together. When Alucard refuses, the priest pulls Seras in front of him, challenging Alucard to shoot through her. Cool and collected, Alucard tells Seras that he's going to shoot through her lung so that he can shoot the vampire in the heart. He asks her if she would like to go with him (i.e., does she want to be made into a vampire)? "Yes," she says, and Alucard fires. Seras falls to the floor, and the vampire turns to dust. As Seras lay dying, Alucard bites her neck.

Integra has arrived in Cheddar. When Alucard comes walking up the road carrying Seras, Integra offers to have someone help her, but Alucard refuses to pass Seras on. Instead, he requests that Integra have Seras transferred from London Police to the Hellsing Organization.
