Somehow, somewhere along the line, people are starting to miss an important aspect of South Park. So as a forewarning to anyone who has never seen South Park but happens to e-trip across this page:

THIS SHOW IS NOT INTENDED FOR PEOPLE WHO TAKE THEMSELVES SERIOUSLY! At all. It's satire of satire of political and social satire. It's Parker and Stone's way of making people laugh at the world we live in (and having some fun offending stuck up, tightassed Americans while they're at it).

If you take yourself seriously (especially people who have big enough egos to use the words "metaphysics" and "polemic" in a review about a cartoon TV show), then don't watch the show.

Racism
bruceamator30 March 2008
I love the, "Sand houses" joke, It's not exactly racist, aren't Egypt and Iraq surrounded by sand, and aren't these countries predominantly full of Muslims. As for your religion, go sell crazy elsewhere I don't buy a word of it. Why go out of your way to slam an episode? Seriously were you that upset by the jokes? Were all free to think as we please we are not being brainwashed by Matt and Trey, we can think for ourselves even when we watch, "unholy" shows like South Park.

Cartoon Wars is the bomb though seriously, I love this developed relationship between Cartman and Kyle where they simply hate each others guts. The characters in South Park have come along way from the fart humour and the, "one liners" from the earlier episodes.

"I am nothing like Family Guy"
RainDogJr10 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Cartoon Wars: Part 1

I certainly had enjoyed Family Guy but when it comes the comparisons for me South Park is infinite times better than Family Guy and here with Cartoon Wars we have two of my favourite South Park episodes and I'm almost sure Cartoon Wars will be some of the very best from Season 10 (yes I know Season 10 finished 2 years ago but I have seen only few episodes). Clever stuff, hilarious and bizarre, in the DVD commentary Trey and Matt explain that this the Mohammad episode became two episodes because the argument with Comedy Central was still going on while they were making this show so they wanted another week to try to convince Comedy Central to show the image of Mohammad. And here is hilarious since the fearless careless cartoon that is about to show the Muslim prophet as a character is Family Guy and everybody knows that ever since those cartoons in Denmark nobody shows an image of Mohammad any more. So there's panic, in South Park everybody is reunited in the Park County Community Center, there have been threats by the terrorists but finally the Family Guy Mohammad episode was censored but it was just the first part! And now a second episode is coming, is going to air very soon with the image of Mohammad uncensored.

This is a fantastic Cartman episode, here Cartman represents South Park since he suffers the comparison with Family Guy, people believe he must like Family Guy but he is nothing like Family Guy! We know him so is not a surprise that he is faking to care of the Muslim people and of the safety of the American people, he has plans to destroy that show. And this is certainly a very memorable first part, the terrorist talking about Family Guy stuff is awesome ("Family Guy is not that even well written") and certainly all the Family Guy stuff too plus the people's solution to not be part of the Family Guy audience is also hilarious just like that police car that was after Cartman and Kyle. Certainly by the end of this first part many questions are still without an answer, questions like: "Or will Comedy Central Puss Out?", "Tune in to see part two of Family Guy, next week… on South Park".

Something more from Trey and Matt's mini commentary: they do hate Family Guy but certainly they don't think it should be taken off the air and stuff, they just don't respect it in terms of writing.

Cartoon Wars: Part 2

The episode Professor Chaos from Season 6 ends with some questions just like he episode Cartoon Wars Part 1 but in Professor Chaos we had answers immediately unlike in Cartoon Wars Part 1 so here we have Part 2 and certainly the following question are answered: Will the cartoon be allowed to appear uncensored? Will Family Guy be destroyed? Will Television executives fight for free speech? Or will Comedy Central Puss Out?

This second part begins in a hilarious way, actually we see the beginning of a new Terrance & Phillip special (great reference to what happened between Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut and Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut) but in that special Muhammad also appeared as a character censored just like in the first part of Family Guy so this takes us again to Cartman in his quest to pull the upcoming second part of the Muhammad stuff of Family Guy.

In the DVD commentary Trey and Matt says that they had calls from people of the Simpsons and King of the Hill after Cartoon Wars Part 1 was aired saying "thank you" and "you're doing god's work". For all of them Family Guy is just like Justin Timberlake, while they all try to make a really great work it comes a full of gags show that for all of them is not that even well written but it has by far more rating. So here we see the writing staff of King of the Hill but that moment can't be compared with the moments with Bart Simpson. Cartman will find that there are more persons that also hate Family Guy but still he will be leading the whole operation to pull the episode and end with Family Guy once and for all, obviously Cartman is a f****** hardcore as****e! We have references to the South Park episode Scott Tenorman Must Die and to The Simpsons episode The Telltale Head and if you can remember what was the big stuff that Cartman and Cart did in their respective episodes then will not have any problem in order to know why Cartman should lead the Family Guy operation. More hilarious stuff with the terrorists, "if you look closely at the writing in Family Guy, you will see that the jokes never derive from the plot and I think that's totally gay" that's what Bin Laden says! And yes , Mohammad appeared uncensored on Family Guy, certainly Family Guy was not destroyed, the TV executives fought for the freedom of speech but only the ones of Family Guy. So and also there was a retaliation but more bizarre stuff, funnier than Family Guy (awesome ending). Anyway you should see Cartoon Wars Part 1 and 2, favourites of mine, or where else you will hear even bleep Bart Simpson saying mother f***** and find the secret of the writing staff of Family Guy?

Extremely Relevant for Today

First I must mention I have not fully seen the sequel because it was malfunctioning, so I will comment solely on this first episode. This is another one of South Park's great episodes/two parters by itself, but has achieved deeper meaning now because of recent controversy when South Park was talking about Mohammed a month or two ago and ran into censorship problems and actually received death threats. This episode also brings up important issues of the first amendment and how much it should cover. This episode does belittle the writing of Family Guy and its integration of jokes, something I have noticed for a while about Family Guy and caused me not to continue watching once each episode was filled with jokes containing no relevancy to anything. No matter how far-fetched a South Park joke may seem, it always ties in at the end. The writing of South Park is almost consistently excellent some exceptions each season, unlike with Family Guy where I feel dumb after watching.

Outstanding

This episode was so exciting. Seeing Kyle and Cartman racing along the highway in a high octane thrill ride. And then Kyle almost driving off a cliff, but he jumps out of the way at the last second, as his tricycle explodes in the canyon. I couldn't believe it. My heart was about to jump out of my chest.

Who was the good guy? Surely it can't be Cartman? Is Kyle finally in the wrong?

It was such a cliffhanger that I couldn't wait for the next episode. Will Comedy Central "puss out", or will they show Muhammad?

Another good two-parter

Warning: Spoilers
Cartoon wars is the first of a two part episode. It's basically South Park insulting Family Guy(which I think is a great show by the way). What happens is Family Guy plans on showing the prophet muhammed and everybody is scared of the retaliation the muslims will use.But at the last minute, FOX censors the image of Muhammed. The townspeople are relieved but the family guy staff is not very happy and they decide they will show the image uncensored next episode.Meanwhile, Cartman(who is always intolerant to other religions or races) is mysteriously concerned about the Muslim people and travels to get the episode pulled.Kyle goes along with him but later finds out he just wants family guy off the air because he hates the show.Cartoon wars is a great two part episode!

Part of the downward spiral that is South Park
zach827010 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I think it's sad that a previously entertaining show like South Park (yes, I did like the show) has to resort to wasting two episodes having the characters engage in a battle claiming that another cartoon show isn't funny. All they did was give a one hour long commercial for Family Guy. Are they jealous that Family Guy has such a huge following? Beyond that, South Park has really taken a downhill turn since pretty much the end of season 5. Since then it's been sadly one good episode every two seasons. There was one good episode in season 8 (AWESOM-O) and the World of Warcraft episode in season 10 was hands down one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The only problem is that they rely too much on "pushing the buttons" of everyone that they can't be funny without resorting to racism, sexism, or vulgarity. A shame. They claim that Family Guy is nothing but interchangeable jokes. This is true, and guess what? It works! Family Guy is the far superior show to South Park today.
