It’s time for Days of Our Lives to make like the Phoenix and rise from the ashes.
Earlier this month, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told fans of the 52-year-old soap that Megyn Kelly’s imminent addition to the network’s daytime landscape didn’t mean that Salem was about to be wiped off the map. Still, to ensure that those sands keep passing through the hourglass, the show might want to really needs to consider making a few changes under incoming headwriter Ron Carlivati (formerly of General Hospital).

Look at the current landscape of American comedy in TV and film, and you will see an institution that has been shaped, molded and influenced by one show more than any other, for 39 years. Saturday Night Live has consistently proven itself to be the training ground for some of the best writers and performers in the business today, and it is preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Created by Lorne Michaels, and developed by Dick Ebersol (previously NBC’s Vice President of late-night programming) in 1975, Saturday Night Live is the late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show that was designed to parody culture and politics with a repertory cast, celebrity guest hosts and a musical guest performance each week. It is one of the longest-running network TV shows in America, with a bulging trophy cabinet that includes 36 prime-time Emmys, 3 Writer’s Guild Association awards and a Peabody. In 2012, it...

I’m so sure you totally hated NBC’s live The Sound of Music. You hated those classic songs sung well by everyone involved. You deplored how it reminded you of high school theater in a good way. You sniffed at those adorable children. Whatever. I thought it completely enjoyable and never once felt like it was trying to outdo or replace the ’65 Best Picture winner. And now that NBC has declared it will do another live musical spectacular next year, it’s time to predict what the classic revue of choice will be. NBC’s Robert Greenblatt claims the network is “circling a couple of titles,” but they have to be vehicles that feature well-known songs that lend themselves to a pop star’s presence.
Here are the five choices I’m predicting have been brought up, but the #1 is a pretty indisputable choice for the next primetime jam.

Ease your way in to a new season of Community with this raft of new promo clips from NBC...
Had Community's fourth season aired on its original start-date of the 20th of October, we'd be nearing the end of the thirteen-episode series about now. As it is, there's just over a fortnight to go until Greendale welcomes back the study group for its senior year. Thursday the 7th of February is the date for your diaries.
Just a couple of weeks ago, NBC Head of Entertainment Bob Greenblatt announced that he was still "absolutely hopeful" about a fifth season for Community, a statement we're clutching at with the frenzied optimism of a jilted lover given a sympathetic smile. Could it be that this isn't... the end?
Whatever Community's future holds, there are thirteen brand new episodes winging their way to us in a little more than two weeks,...

The holiday hiatus from some of your favorite television shows is finally over, and that means a lot more new episodes from here on out! With the new year comes some new beginnings, and that's exactly what we're hoping for. Can you blame us? After all, we are the ones who rearrange our nightly schedules just to see if so and so hookups this week, or if a certain pair of lawyers will look as dapper as always.

Though all the shows listed below are definite favorites, there's changes that need to happen in 2013 for some. From The Office to Revenge and Suits, a change doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong. Sometimes, it's just a storyline that we've been dying to see. And at other times, it's a forbidden affair that we can't help but root for week after week.

Kevin McHale is being considered as a cohost of The X-Factor when it returns. If the deal happens, it won't affect his role on Glee, but considering the bruising schedule Glee runs, I don't see how.
Jared Loughner, the man who shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, has pleaded guilty to the charges against him after a psychologist testified that he knew what he was doing and was fit to stand trial. He's expected to receive multiple life sentences.
There is Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte fanfic, and it's now been illustrated for your viewing pleasure.
Mitt Romney is now saying there's no benefit to releasing his tax returns this late in the race, as the press won't have time to comb through them anyway. If your tax returns are that complicated, there's a good chance you're hiding something.

3:33Pm: The Smash panel kicks off with a video greeting from executive producer Steven Spielberg who NBC Entertainment President Bob Greenblatt promises has been incredibly involved and passionate about the show. To the point that he has personally edited musical sequences. Not-so-fun-fact: Spielberg did not send a similar video prior to Fox’s Terra Nova panel last fall. Read into that what you will.
3:38Pm: Just to give you an indication as to how good Smash actually is. A roomful of tired, hungry and soulless television critics actually “Aaaawwwwwed” when there was a momentary technical difficulty with the video sizzle reel for the show.
3:44Pm: Greenblatt teases that Marilyn’s road to Broadway will be a rocky one, with the first season culminating in the show’s out-of-town try out, and the second one — should the show be lucky enough to see a second season — revolve around...

Update: Controversy surrounding the upcoming NBC show "The Playboy Club" continues hop up as the Parents Television Council has exhorted NBC affiliates to pull the program. In a letter dated July 25, PTC President Tim Winter told stations, " urge you ... to preempt the program in your community" citing concerns over potential salacious content. The letter also states "NBC is breaking the law with this show," that according to the Pink Cross Foundation, a faith-based organization for former pornography industry employees.

NBC's roster of bubble shows is a little smaller than we would have anticipated earlier this month, thanks to the pickups of "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" a couple weeks ago. But there are still several shows whose fates could go either way in the next six weeks.
One of them, "Chuck," is a Bubble Watch perennial, a show with a passionate fan base that's not quite big enough to make its renewal an easy decision. Whatever decision NBC ends up making, though, we can count on it being one of the more closely watched shows as the May upfronts approach.
Another big factor will be how much of a stamp NBC's new leadership, headed by former Showtime chief Bob Greenblatt, will want to put on the 2011-12 schedule. The network has 22 pilots -- 10 dramas and 12 comedies -- in development, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see NBC do...
