- After growing bored in school, Bart forges a note to go home early, but the forgery is picked up on by Principal Skinner, and he heads out into the town to find Bart.
Bart manages to stay a few steps ahead of Skinner, and ends up hopping into the back of a car belonging to Freddie Quimiby, Mayor Quimby's nephew, which happens to be going to Freddie's Birthday Party at the family's compound.
Bart mingles with the celebrities for a bit, before heading into the kitchen. As he observes a giant rice krispy square, Freddie follows a server in, demanding the server pronounce the word "chowder" as "chow-dah." When the server refuses, Freddie can be heard going, "Alright, you asked for it. I'm gonna enjoy this!"
The words are followed by a clattering of sound, before the server's body falls to the floor.
Freddie Quimby is arrested on suspicion of attacking the waiter, though Bart knows the truth...but fears coming clean will reveal to Principal Skinner that he was skipping school.
The trial soon begins, and both Homer and Skinner are on the jury.
The Quimby's have paid off numerous people to claim Freddie was nowhere near the compound on the day of the accident, and it seems that Freddie may go free.
Freddie's lawyer calls his client up, claiming that Freddie wouldn't be the kind of person to lose his temper over the pronunciation of the word "chowder." However, this causes Freddie to suddenly lose his temper, shouting that it is pronounced "chow-dah," threatening to kill his lawyer and the jury.
Needless to say, Freddie's defense has backfired.
The jury convenes, but Homer deadlocks the jury, after he's shown where the jury will be sequestered, taking advantage of the freebies!
Finally, Bart comes clean, and is put on the witness stand. Bart then relates that after Freddie claimed "I'm gonna enjoy this," he popped open a bottle of champagne and left. Once he did, the waiter then ended up clumsily injuring himself in the kitchen.
The waiter objects, claiming he is not a 'clumsy, Clouseau-esque waiter,' before stumbling over his chair, and plummeting out a side window into a truck full of mouse traps.
The court finds Freddie innocent, and Bart is given detention by Skinner, though commended for telling the truth.
