Say hello to a new Katherine Heigl.

While the former "Grey's Anatomy" star did play some action and wield a gun in her 2010 bomb "Killers" with Ashton Kutcher, she played a nervous victim of circumstance in that one, a good girl thrust into a bad situation. That's not the case in one of her next films, "One For The Money"; here, she's throwing herself right into the bottom feeding muck.

Heigl stars as Jersey girl Stephanie Plum, an unemployed Trenton gal who takes a job for her shady uncle's bail bonds company, recovering assets -- aka people -- to bring in cash. It's a film adaptation of a 17-book series by author Janet Evanovich, and gives Heigl to move away from romcoms (though she'll be in the upcoming "New Year's Eve) and TV drama. Lionsgate has released the first trailer for One for the Money, the feature debut of the Stephanie Plum character created by Janet Evanovich.  Katherine Heigl plays Plum: "Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company... as a recovery agent."  It's not my cup of tea, but it doesn't appear completely charmless if you're one of those mythical viewers who can tolerate Katherine Heigl.  And hey, Jason O'Mara looks like he's having fun.  Faint praise! It's never a good sign when a movie's release date is constantly shuffled around, and that's exactly what's been happening to Julie Anne Robinson's One For The Money, starring Katherine Heigl. While the movie was originally scheduled to open on July 8th against Zookeeper, it was moved up to June 3rd, where it was supposed to do battle with X-Men: First Class. You may have noticed, however, that both of those dates have already passed. That's because the project was eventually taken out of the summer schedule completely and will now be part of the horrible movie month known as January. How do you solve a problem like Katherine Heigl's movie career? Lionsgate today announced that it has acquired U.S. distribution rights from Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment to the upcoming crime thriller One For The Money, starring Katherine Heigl (Lionsgate’s upcoming Killers, Grey’s Anatomy).

The film is based on the first novel in writer Janet Evanovich’s bestselling Stephanie Plum series. Lakeshore’s Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard and Nick Meyer’s Sierra Pictures are jointly handling international distribution. The announcement was jointly made today by Joe Drake, Lionsgate Chief Operating Officer and Motion Picture Group President, Tom Rosenberg, Lakeshore Entertainment Chairman and CEO, and Sidney Kimmel, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (Ske) Chairman.

Washington, February 10 – Katherine Heigl has reportedly filled in the spot left vacant by Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming movie One For The Money.

The Knocked Up actress took Witherspoon’s place after the latter withdrew from the project for unknown reasons.

Movie bosses were then said to have roped in Heigl to star as Stephanie Plum in the film based on Janet Evanovich’s novel of the same name, reports Contactmusic.

The film tells the story of an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make.

Katherine Heigl has replaced Reese Witherspoon in forthcoming film One For The Money.

The project was put on hold shortly after Witherspoon was attached to star in the big screen version of Janet Evanovich's novel of the same name, and movie bosses have now cast Knocked Up actress Heigl as Stephanie Plum, an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet.

The reason behind Witherspoon's departure is currently unknown.

Filming on the movie is expected to begin as soon as the screenplay is completed, reports Daily Variety.
