Say hello to a new Katherine Heigl.
While the former "Grey's Anatomy" star did play some action and wield a gun in her 2010 bomb "Killers" with Ashton Kutcher, she played a nervous victim of circumstance in that one, a good girl thrust into a bad situation. That's not the case in one of her next films, "One For The Money"; here, she's throwing herself right into the bottom feeding muck.
Heigl stars as Jersey girl Stephanie Plum, an unemployed Trenton gal who takes a job for her shady uncle's bail bonds company, recovering assets -- aka people -- to bring in cash. It's a film adaptation of a 17-book series by author Janet Evanovich, and gives Heigl to move away from romcoms (though she'll be in the upcoming "New Year's Eve) and TV drama. The film is still considered a comedy, but it has an edge to the character that...

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for One for the Money, the feature debut of the Stephanie Plum character created by Janet Evanovich. Katherine Heigl plays Plum: "Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company... as a recovery agent." It's not my cup of tea, but it doesn't appear completely charmless if you're one of those mythical viewers who can tolerate Katherine Heigl. And hey, Jason O'Mara looks like he's having fun. Faint praise! Daniel Sunjata, John Leguiziamo, Debbie Reynolds, and Debra Monk also star in the January 27, 2012 release, directed by Julie Anne Robinson. Watch the trailer after the jump. Yahoo has the trailer in HD. It's never a good sign when a movie's release date is constantly shuffled around, and that's exactly what's been happening to Julie Anne Robinson's One For The Money, starring Katherine Heigl. While the movie was originally scheduled to open on July 8th against Zookeeper, it was moved up to June 3rd, where it was supposed to do battle with X-Men: First Class. You may have noticed, however, that both of those dates have already passed. That's because the project was eventually taken out of the summer schedule completely and will now be part of the horrible movie month known as January. But fans of Janet Evanovich's series of novels shouldn't fret, as it looks like this date is going to stick because the first trailer has arrived online. Check it out below or in HD over on Yahoo! I don't have much to say about this trailer, but...

How do you solve a problem like Katherine Heigl's movie career? The actress who was on top of the world in 2007-- starring on the hit series Grey's Anatomy, getting dirty and funny in Knocked Up-- saw two more rom-com hits after that, The Ugly Truth and 27 Dresses, that were as successful with audiences as they were reviled by critics. In 2010 it went downhill with the twin flops Killers and Life As We Know It, and with Heigl now off Grey's Anatomy and not doing much to change a reputation for being difficult and unlikeable, it's a serious question now if she'll ever be as big a star again. This summer she was supposed to be making a go at it, starring in the action comedy One For The Money based on the best-selling Janet Evanovich book, but now those plans have been scrapped by distributor Lionsgate. According...

Debbie Reynolds, who hasn't been on camera since Will & Grace in 2006, has been lured back to the screen by Katherine Heigl in One For The Money, the Lakeshore / Sidney Kimmel Entertainment adaptation of the Janet Evanovich novel series. Heigl stars as bounty hunter Stephanie Plum for director Julie Anne Robinson, and Reynolds will play Grandma Mazur, the outspoken and outrageous advisor and maternal grandmother to Heigl's character. "Grandma Mazur is such a great character," Heigl said. "She's really feisty and the one who's a real mentor to Stephanie Plum. We needed somebody for the part who would speak her mine and even be a little edgy. We approached Debbie Reynolds because she has that 'Molly Brown' as a contemporary grandmother. She's so perfect for the part. Then she read it, loved it and joined immediately." Plum starts out as a cash-strapped unemployed lingerie buyer who joins her cousin Vinnie's bail...

When it comes to projects that have been lingering in development for years, the mere chance that a hot performer might take it on is enough for studios to dig it out of the vaults, dust it off and throw it back on to the fast track. So it is with the adaptation of Janet Evanovich’s comedy thriller novel One For The Money, which now comes bearing Katherine Heigl’s name attached.According to Variety, Evanovich’s first book to feature jobless lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has been in development for ages, almost since it became a hit back in 1994 and for a while looked like it might hit the screen with Reese Witherspoon as Plum. But when it didn’t come together, it vanished beneath the Hollywood murk once again. Now, however Columbia Pictures and Lakeshore Entertainment want to try again with their Ugly Truth star as Stephanie,...
