Way Too Much
Hitchcoc19 July 2022
I will give an A+ to Alan's speech. The fact that the federal government would put this woman on trial for 400 dollars is ridiculous. The guy impersonating the policeman got exactly what he had coming to him. Denise, whom I really like, is made to look like a buffoon. The problem with the drug rehab (the other story) is that she is using meth and doesn't seem to be having any adverse effects. That is the nastiest stuff on the planet.

Strong Political Statement
daniel_s_wharton28 March 2006
I really wish more people had seen this episode. I am not a regular viewer, and I came across this episode by accident. the Director makes a strong political statement, that was probably overlooked due to the nature of the show. Regardless, Alan Shore's closing statement for Melissa Hughes implied that the US government has been violating our civil liberties. These instances are in fact, real.

I strongly urge all to view the episode and follow up on these subjects: Pier 57 (2004 Republican National Convention- New York), Special Ops/Delta Force (Austin Texas), and Free Speech Zones. All of these instances actually happened, and demonstrate how our government is obstructing or completely ignoring our civil Liberties. Kudos to the Director, I just wish more had watched this episode...

Great series, poor episode.

If you enjoy skewed political indoctrination masked as entertainment, this is the episode for you. The rest of the ensemble is poorly developed. This is nearly all Alan telling us how to think.

False Premises

Warning: Spoilers
It is always good to understand a word, premise in this case, pun intended. Premise is evidence to validate an argument. It is simple. This show revolves around an establishment that is predicated on logic. What I find hilarious, or upsetting, is when folks decide to use an intermediate conclusion in the argument. This episode goes at the wmd topic for the Hughes case. Trying to say there was a lie perpetrated by the government about the reasons for going to war in Iraq is a problem. Since I was there, and we found wmd, I dismissed this episode. The failed logic probably got the show canceled.
