- Angry that Debra seems to be making all the decisions, Ray decides to take charge of a few things around the house. He goes to the supermarket, but finds that his purchases are criticized by everyone in the family.
- When Debra Barone grudgingly agrees to let Ray become more involved in the daily decision making of the household, Ray starts grocery shopping for things that he likes, and Debra lets him choose where the family will go for their next vacation. However, these newfound powers quickly become Ray's undoing.
- Debra has ants in her kitchen as Ray keeps leaving his food on the counter.
Ray objects to calling an exterminator to kill the ants in the kitchen. Ray says that the exterminator uses a lot of chemicals, which are harmful to humans. Debra has scheduled the exterminator to come to the house the following Monday. Debra decides that, because of the mess in the kitchen and in spite of Ray's objections (who points out that the kids are unruly, and it is not possible to have decent meal with them. Ray suggested that the kids could eat at Marie's while he and Debra could go out to a restaurant), they are going to take the kids and go out to dinner at a restaurant. The dinner is a disaster as the kids are loud, and run around, and they even find their whistles in the car on their way back. Ray makes it a point to say that there has never been an occasion when the kids have behaved worse.
Ray tells Debra that she ignores his suggestions and has done so for 12 years of their marriage. He wanted different drapes in the kitchen, a dog, a couch with footrests and wanted not to stay across the street from his parents. Ray says that Debra needs to listen better.
He alleges that Debra always rejects his plans, that he constantly has to shut his mouth to keep the peace, and that she always gets her way in every decision. She replies that when she lets him make decisions, he screws them up and takes no responsibility for what happens in the house. Debra points out that she sent Ray to buy a garden hose, but he brought back something that was too small and useless. Its 2 feet long and the water doesn't even reach the plants.
After the fight Debra relents and decides to let him make some decisions. Debra decides to trust Ray some more. Debra asks Ray to decide the location of their family vacation.
Later Ray goes grocery shopping and buys an organic spray to kill the ants, kites for the twins, notebook for Ally and 10 boxes of tissues which everyone hates. Debra says that the tissues don't go with the bathroom. Frank says the tissues already had lotion on them which makes them feel snotty before they have been used. Robert explains that the tissues were on sale as their texture is bad, and they only had 100 to a box, while a typical box has 160. Ray vehemently stands up for the tissues he bought and refuses to back down. Ray yells at Marie that growing up she made all the decisions for him. 15 years old and Marie was still picking out outfits for Ray and he was bullied at school because of it.
When Debra goes upstairs, he tries to make dinner. The tissues catch on fire, which spreads to the sprayed counter and ends up setting the entire kitchen on fire. Ray's hose was not long enough to bring water to the kitchen counter. Debra comes down and puts out the fire with an extinguisher. Debra goes back to making all the decisions.
