As firm believers that you can never spread too much Christmas fear, we thought we'd share this vintage short-film from one of our favorite maniacs, director Tim Sullivan.
Dig on the yuletide goodies below along with a note from the man himself!
"To Uncle Creepy and all the fine folks at Dread Central, monster gratitude for all your love and support this year. You truly walk the talk as Indie Horror’s best friend.
Back in 1985, as a wee lad of 19, I made a little holiday flick that won the Fangoria short film search that year. 25 years later, I am humbled to say the film still resonates with family and friends who request it every yuletide. So for those who have seen it, and those who have not, roast those chestnuts and naughty children and get ready for A Christmas Treat, my little way of once again saying Thanks to horror fans everywhere.

2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, Tim Sullivan’s sequel to his own indie horror hit 2001 Maniacs, has been acquired by distributor First Look Studios, who will debut the film for its North American premiere on April 29 at the Texas Frightmare Film Festival in Dallas. Sullivan, along with several cast members, will walk the premiere’s blood red carpet.
In the sequel, horror stalwart Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) takes over the role of Mayor Buckman from Robert Englund and takes his merry band of psychotic southern killers to Iowa where they disrupt the filming of a reality TV show about two spoiled heiresses slumming it with the “common folk.” The unsuspecting rich girls go from being the toast of the town to being toasted and roasted over an open flame by the cannibalistic maniacs.
While Moseley may be new to the franchise, Lin Shaye and Christa Campbell will both...

‘Tis the season to start feeling jolly, so here’s an old holiday short film from horror maestro Tim Sullivan, A Christmas Treat. In fact, this is Sullivan’s first short film directed back when he was an Nyu student back in the ’80s. It’s a really well done short with a nice, slow set-up and a terrific punchline. It reminds me a lot of the old Tales From the Darkside TV show, which would have been a contemporary at the time this was produced.
I don’t think I’ve written about Tim Sullivan on Bad Lit before, but he’s one helluva nice guy and a wonderful horror movie director. There are two films by him you need to check out if you haven’t already. The first is 2001 Maniacs, an updating of the Herschell Gordon Lewis splatter classic that stars the legendary Robert Englund and the wonderfully quirky Giuseppe Andrews,...
