“Suits LA” has added three new guest stars.

Variety has learned exclusively that Patton Oswalt, Brian Baumgartner, and Enrico Colantoni are all set to appear in the first season of the NBC legal drama. All three will play a version of themselves.

The trio join previously announced guest stars like Maggie Grace, Matt Letscher, Sofia Pernas, and Carson A. Egan. The main cast of “Suits LA” includes Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. It was also reported that “Suits” star Gabriel Macht will appear in a multi-episode arc of “Suits LA” as well.

The roles mark returns to NBC for Oswalt, Baumgartner, and Colantoni, as all three have previously starred in NBC comedies — “AP Bio” for Oswalt, “The Office” for Baumgartner, and “Just Shoot Me” for Colantoni.

John Krasinski and Matthew Rhys are set to executive produce and star in “Silent River,” a new psychological thriller ordered by Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video.

According to the official logline, the project, which is seen through the lens of two men whose lives are far more more connected than they realize, explores the cracks of small-town America in the wake of discovering a serial killer among them.

“Silent River” is created by Aaron Rabin, who serves as an executive producer. In addition to Krasinski, Rhys and Rabin, Allyson Seeger and Alexa Ginsburg will executive produce for Sunday Night. Krasinski is set to direct the show’s pilot and some additional episodes. Andrew Bernstein is also set to direct and executive produce.

In addition to the series order, Sunday Night has renewed its first-look television deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

John Bailey, the cinematographer on Ordinary People, Groundhog Day, As Good as It Gets and dozens of other notable films who endured two “stressful” terms as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, died Friday. He was 81.

Bailey died in Los Angeles, his wife, Oscar-nominated film editor Carol Littleton (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), announced.

”It is with deep sadness I share with you that my best friend and husband, John Bailey, passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning,” she said in a statement. “During John’s illness, we reminisced how we met 60 years ago and were married for 51 of those years. We shared a wonderful life of adventure in film and made many long-lasting friendships along the way. John will forever live in my heart.”

Mike Medavoy, CEO of Phoenix Pictures, is partnering with Mariel Hemingway and producer Sam Sokolow on a limited series about the life and times of Ernest Hemingway, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

The series will explore the famous writer’s life as often fictionalized in classic novels like “A Farewell to Arms” and “The Sun Also Rises,” and will also delve into the unexplored psychological trauma that haunted him until he took his own life in 1961.

There are only two months left to go in this truly hellish year and relatively new streaming service HBO Max is trying to make the best of them. While most other streamers recover from Halloween and get prepared for Christmas, HBO Max is using November 2020 to fill out its servers.

Things are pretty light not the new original series front this month with only Industry (Nov. 9) and His Dark Materials season 2 (Nov. 16) making a splash. But the streamer has a couple of notable original films to complement them. Between the World and Me, based on the book by Ta-Nehisi Coates, arrives on Nov. 21 and Melissa McCarthy comedy Superintelligence arrives on Nov. 26. That’s not even to mention two intriguing projects that don’t have dates yet: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion Special and The Mystery of Db Cooper.

Thankfully, the real appeal in November 2020 is all the fresh library...

HBO Max has a major job on its hands to justify its approximately $15 a month subscription fee, especially given the strong competition out there from established names like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Disney Plus faced a similar challenge last year in arriving onto an already-saturated streaming marketplace, but at least had the advantage of major series like The Mandalorian to promote. While HBO Max will eventually be home to the Snyder cut of Justice League, and has some originals for its first week of availability, the big draw right now is its enormous back-catalogue of movies.

Given the various corporate elements that are going into HBO Max, including the Warner Bros. library, owners AT&T will be hoping that the combination of brand recognition for HBO programming, and a deep bench of movies, will convince people to add a new subscription to their list. Though the summer sun is starting to beat down, most of us are still being encouraged to stay indoors for Covid-19 related reasons. It’s not much fun, but at the very least, there’s an absolute ton of stuff landing in June that should distract you from the call of the beach.

Of particular note is the newly launched HBO Max, which is trying to catch the eye of potential subscribers with a red-hot first month. There’s an excellent selection of movies coming on June 1st, with horror titles like An American Werewolf in London (still the best werewolf movie ever made), Final Destinations 1-4, From Dusk til Dawn and Lifeforce.

Welcome to the HBO Max era! WarnerMedia’s streaming giant arrived on May 27 and is absolutely bursting with Warner movies, TV shows, and other titles. But time waits for no man or streaming service and each new month HBO Max will be expected to bring new content to the table. Things get started in June 2020 with the first batch of HBO Max new releases.

To be clear, the majority of the original series coming to HBO Max actually belongs to HBO. Shows like I May Destroy You (June 7), Perry Mason (June 21), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (June 28) all belong to HBO…which now just happens to be a part of HBO Max. Confusing stuff, we know, but rest assured that if you have HBO Max you’ll get these shows…and if you only have HBO, you can go ahead and just get HBO Max for the same price anyway.

HBO Max launches May 27 with a whole lot of content ready to stream immediately. But throughout the nascent streamer’s first month, even more titles will be added, from HBO Max originals like “Adventure Time: Distant Lands Bmo,” to old favorites like “Amelie,” “Black Beauty” and “The Bucket List.”

Other brand-new HBO Max originals include the third season of comedy “Search Party,” and the second seasons of “Doom Patrol,” and “Esme & Roy,” all coming June 25, and on June 18, the second season of “Summer Camp Island” and the series premiere kids competition series “Karma.”

Before HBO Max even launches — it goes live May 27 — WarnerMedia is trying to lure new subscribers by revealing what’s coming next month to the streamer.

The June lineup highlights on HBO Max include all 23 seasons of “South Park,” snapped up in a multiyear, $500 million-plus deal; James Cameron’s Oscar-winning “Titanic”; and the “Adventure Time: Distant Lands” special featuring lovable robot Bmo.

HBO Max, regularly priced at $14.99 per month (the same as HBO Now), will be available on multiple platforms and distributors through deals including with Apple, Google, Charter, Xbox, PlayStation, and AT&T/DirecTV. As of this writing, however, WarnerMedia has not locked in HBO Max deals with Comcast, Roku or Amazon.

New Max Originals this June include kids’ adventure competition series “Karma,” Season 3 of comedy “Search Party” and the second seasons of “Doom Patrol,” “Esme & Roy” and “Summer Camp Island.”

Meghan first met Trevor in 2004 and they got engaged in 2010 after six years of dating. They tied the knot a year later in a barefoot wedding at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Sept. 10. However, their marriage was short-lived as Meghan and Trevor quietly separated in August 2013, citing "irreconcilable differences." According to sources, "things started to fall apart not long after the wedding" and the couple "really battled with long distances." "Trevor was based in La while Meghan was in Toronto, a five-hour flight away," an insider previously told Women's Day magazine. "It was a very difficult way to start married life." Meghan and Trevor never had any children together.

Say this for 2018: It can’t be any worse than 2017, right? (Spoiler: It totally can.) At least Netflix’s first batch of offerings inspires cautious optimism in the new year, with everything from the entire “Godfather” trilogy, “Marie Antoinette,” five different “Batman” films and five different “Bring It On” movies (did you even know they’d made that many?), “Midnight in Paris,” the complete “Lethal Weapon” collection, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” and “The Truman Show” coming to the streaming service in January.

Film and television star John Krasinski, who stars as a former Navy Seal in the upcoming, real-life motion picture thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, has been named the Grand Marshal for the Aaa Texas 500 Nascar Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Texas Motor Speedway.

Krasinski, an actor, writer and director, will give the command for the Sprint Cup Series drivers of the 43-car field to start their engines in front of a crowd that annually comprises one of the largest-attended, single-day sporting events in Texas.

“It’s a huge honor to be asked to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal,” said Krasinski. “I am really excited to be going to Nascar and seeing Jeff Gordon race for one of his last outings.”

Krasinski will be joined on the Grand Marshal stage by three of the heroes from the CIA annex security team that fought off Islamic militants on Sept.

After spending two decades in England, Bill Bryson returns to the U.S., where he decides the best way to connect with his homeland is to hike the Appalachian Trail with one of his oldest friends.

Directed by Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You and License to Wed), the film looks to be relatively up his alley, since he’s mostly known for directing comedy films and television shows. Miramax has hired independent producer David Thwaites in the newly-created position of vp, film, effectively immediately.

Reporting to Zanne Devine, evp of film and TV, Thwaites will head Miramax’s burgeoning film production and development activities, as the studio continues its push into film, television, acquisitions and co-productions.

The thing that has us most excited about the film is the ensemble cast that includes Oprah(!), James Marsden (hot) and Mariah Carey (still trying to make that acting thing work). In the final weekend before Iron Man 3 kicks off the summer movie season in earnest, Michael Bay’s R-rated action comedy Pain & Gain topped a slow weekend at the box office with $20 million from 3,277 theaters, giving it an average of $6,103 per location. The Paramount film achieved only a fraction of the opening weekend grosses of Bay’s Transformers films, but it only cost a fraction — just $26 million — of those films as well. A whole mess of casting news blips itself onto our radar every day. It's often interesting, sometimes unexpected. But almost never is it the possibility of Robin Williams becoming a television actor again, 30 years post-Mork & Mindy. David E. Kelley — the Emmy-winning creator/writer behind L.A. Thoughts by Tsr: When I saw the poster for The Big Wedding I thought it was a fake movie. It even featured Robin Williams as a priest looking photoshopped in from the seminal 2007 film License to Wed. Then I discovered it was very real and hoped that the cast could elevate it above the usual romantic comedy tedium. Well, this trailer has made one thing clear: no amount of past Oscar winners could make this anything other than another hopelessly generic waste of talent.

This thing is rife with uninspired slapstick, unfunny jokes, talented actors looking bored out of their minds, and Katherine Heigl. None of those things result in an enjoyable time at the movies. Names such as Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon,...
