Mildred Danvers was found dead with barbiturates in her system, according to Dr. Bullard. DC Ben Jones presents a bottle of Valium (in an evidence bag) to DCI Tom Barnaby, and they discuss the possibility of the Valium being used to kill Mildred Danvers. The problem is that Valium is not a barbiturate; it's in a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines.

At 42 minutes when DCI Barnaby visits Henry Marwood, he has changed out of his red vest and put on a tie. In the very next scene when he visits Mrs. Hastings, he's back to the red vest and no tie.

There are about twice as many DNA tests being done than necessary. DC Jones tells DCI Barnaby that DNA has established that an eyelash found in the bottom of a flask and on a rifle scope come from the same person. The DNA would also establish the gender. Thus, there was no need to take samples from both the men and the women.

In trying to establish where the shot was fired from, the laser was mounted on a tripod with a technician lining up the direction and height through a lens. This was be less than 6 feet high. But the reverend was seated on a mule, shot through the forehead, considerably higher than 6 feet.
