  [the Doctor makes a movement with his hand to indicate she talks too much] 

  The Doctor : . And just last week she stared into the heart of the time vortex and aged 57 years. But she'll do.

  Jackie Tyler : I'm 40!

  The Doctor : Deluded. Bless. I'll have to trade her in. Do you need anyone? She's very good at tea. Well, when I say "very good" I mean not bad. Well, I say "not bad" - anyway, lead on. Allons-y - but not too fast. Her ankle's going.

  Jackie Tyler : I'll show you were my ankle's going!

• The Doctor : So, you find a breach, probe it, the sphere comes through, 600 feet above London, BAM! It leaves a hole in the fabric of reality. And that hole, you think: "Should we leave it alone, should we back off, should we play it safe?" NAH, you think: "Let's make it BIGGER!"

• Rose Tyler : [entering the TARDIS]  According to the paper they've elected a ghost as MP for Leeds. Now don't tell me you're going to sit back and do nothing.

  [the Doctor suddenly appears from just below the console. He's wearing an odd looking backpack] 

  The Doctor : [in a funny voice]  Who ya gonna call!

  Rose Tyler : Ghostbusters!

  The Doctor : I ain't afraid of no ghost!

• The Doctor : Oh, well there goes the advantage of surprise. Still! Cuts to the chase. Stay in here, look after Jackie.

  Rose Tyler : I'm not looking after my mum!

  The Doctor : Well you brought her!

  Jackie Tyler : I was kidnapped!

  Rose Tyler : Doctor, they've got guns.

  The Doctor : And I haven't. Which makes me the better person, don't you think? They can shoot me dead, but the moral high-ground is mine.

• Yvonne Hartman : They're invading the planet.

  The Doctor : It's not an invasion. It's too late for that. It's a victory.

• Jackie Tyler : But these Cybermen, what do they have to do with the ghosts?

  The Doctor : Don't you ever listen? A footprint doesn't look like a boot.

  [the ghosts begin to turn into Cybermen] 

  The Doctor : It's the Cybermen. All the ghosts are Cybermen. Millions of them. All over the earth.

• Peggy Mitchell : [on TV]  Listen to me, Den Watts - I don't care if you HAVE come back from the dead, get out of my pub! The only spirits in here are gin, whisky and vodka, so go on - GET OUT!

  [the Doctor switches the TV off and turns to Jackie] 

  The Doctor : When did this start?

  Jackie Tyler : Well, first of all, Peggy heard this noise in the cellar, so she goes downstairs...

  The Doctor : No, I mean worldwide.

• Yvonne Hartman : [pointing to Rose's image on the laptop]  So this is?

  The Doctor : That's Rose Tyler.

  Yvonne Hartman : [looking confusedly at Jackie]  Then she is?

  Jackie Tyler : I'm her mother.

  Yvonne Hartman : [laughing]  You travel with her mother?

  Jackie Tyler : I was kidnapped!

  The Doctor : Please, when you come to write my official biography, please don't say I travelled with her mother.

  [Jackie looks at him accusingly] 

  The Doctor : Well I have a reputation to uphold.

• Jackie Tyler : Just think of it though: our families coming back home, all the people we've lost. Don't you think it's beautiful?

  The Doctor : I think it's horrific.

• The Doctor : If I'm the enemy, does that mean I'm a prisoner?

  Yvonne Hartman : Oh yes, but we'll make you perfectly comfortable.

• [Rose has been discovered and Yvonne shows her to the Doctor via a video on the laptop] 

  Yvonne Hartman : One of yours?

  The Doctor : [lying]  Nope, never seen her before in my life.

  Yvonne Hartman : Then it will be ok for us to shoot her.

  The Doctor : [defeated]  Oh well, it was worth a try.

• The Doctor : Ear-pieces; earpods, this world is colliding with another. And I know which one.

  [He and Yvonne are surrounded by shadowy figures] 

  Yvonne Hartman : What are they?

  The Doctor : The advance guard. They came through first.

  [the figures begin to tear through the plastic] 

  The Doctor : Cybermen!

• Rose Tyler : Doctor, they've got guns.

  The Doctor : And I haven't! Which makes me the better person, don't you think? They can shoot me dead, but the moral high ground is mine!

• The Doctor : But I don't understand; the cybermen don't have the technology to build a void ship. How did you manage it?

  Cyber Leader : The sphere is not ours. We followed it its wake; its origin is unknown to us.

  The Doctor : Then what's inside?

• Rose Tyler : Doctor, they've got guns.

  The Doctor : And I haven't, which makes me the better person, don't you think? They can shoot me dead, but the moral high ground is mine.

• The Doctor : Oh, all right it was worth a try. That's... that's Rose Tyler.

  Rose Tyler : Sorry. Hello.

  Yvonne Hartman : But if that's Rose Tyler, who is she?

  Jackie Tyler : I'm her mother.

  Yvonne Hartman : [addressing Doctor]  Oh, you travel with her mother?

  Jackie Tyler : He kidnapped me!

  The Doctor : [to Yvonne]  Please, when Torchwood comes to write my complete history... Don't tell people I traveled through time and space with her mother.

  Jackie Tyler : [scoffs]  Charming.

  The Doctor : I've got a reputation to uphold!

• Dalek : But your weapon is harmless...

  The Tenth Doctor : It's harmless, that's why I like it, doesn't kill doesn't maim, but I'll tell you what it does do, it is very good at opening doors
