In his introduction to "New Stories from the Twilight Zone", the series' executive story consultant Alan Brennert described "Take My Life... Please!" as a bad script "we never should have greenlighted in the first place."
Four of the seven actors playing the members of the Devil's Alphabet Society have appeared in a Star Trek production. Ben Cross (Frederick) played Sarek, Spock's father, in the 2009 film, "Star Trek." Robert Shenkkan (Eli) played Lt. Commander Dexter Remmick in two episodes of the TV series "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Ethan Phillips (Deaver) played Neelix in the TV series "Star Trek: Voyager." Jim Piddock (Brian) provided the voice of Commander Mandel in one episode of the animated TV series "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
"Take My Life...Please!" has no opening narration. Neither "Devil's Alphabet" nor "The Library" has any narration, at either the beginning or the end. The title is based upon the Henny Youngman joke, "Now take my wife. Please!"
