Further complicating the situation.—Candice Davis
- The other basement boys were making fun imagining jailbird Hyde (Danny Masterson) as some hard con's sex-toy. Steven returns on probation, despite Red's (Kurtwood Smith) refusal to post bail and intention to kick the corrupting criminal out of his house as advocated by Laurie (Lisa Robin Kelly). Red feels betrayed especially since they took Hyde into their house when he had nowhere else to go. Red also believes that Hyde is the corrupting influence behind Eric. Laurie says that she is not comfortable living with a criminal and asks Red to kick him out of the house.
Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) pleads the youngster needs guidance more than ever. Eric (Topher Grace) actually wants to remain the quintessential boy second class in his own home to keep his 'friend' in and hatches the crazy plan to confess he uses too, so Red can't hypocritically kick Hyde out. Eric is counting on the fact that deep down Red loves him and won't kick him out. Hyde decides that he wont fight Red's decisions and requests Leo (Tommy Chong) to let him move into the Fotohut. He will sleep on the floor and use the hose around the back as his bathroom.
Jackie now publicly professes her love for Hyde. Jackie considers Hyde as her hero. Midge (Tanya Roberts) is furious to know that Hyde had weed when she had to drive across town every time she wanted a hit. Bob (Don Stark) begs her to stop mentioning this openly. Leo speaks to Red about not kicking Hyde from his house, and he vouches for Hyde that he is a good kid. This only makes Red's mind even more.
Donna (Laura Prepon) is furious when she finds out Jackie's (Mila Kunis) dirty part in Hyde's arrest. Jackie confesses to Donna that the bag belonged to her, and that Hyde loves her as he went to jail for her. But when Jackie finds out Red is kicking Hyde out of his house, she is really happy as now she can buy his love by giving him "stuff". Jackie warns Donna against interfering in her perfect love life.
Donna tells Red the truth. Red calls Hyde "dumbass" and gives him a big lecture not to repeat this behavior and tells him to stay. Red is furious at Hyde for putting his entire future at risk for Jackie, who just doesn't care about anything in life. Just then Eric barges into the room and admits that he takes weed, so that Red can't kick Hyde out alone. Kitty tells Eric that they already decided that they are not kicking Hyde out. But now Eric can't take his words back. Eric and Hyde say that they were not thinking straight and blame it on the times that they are living in, peer pressure. Red realizes that he has been too easy on the kids and has given them too much leeway. He decides to be super strict going forward and says that fun time is over. He installs a smoke detector in the basement, just Hyde tells Jackie that he hates her.
