- Jackie tries to make Hyde jealous by bringing Chip to Red's annual barbecue, and when circumstances cause him to defend her honor they end up kissing.
- On Veteran's Day, proud WWII and Korean War vet Red looks down even more on his Guardsman neighbor, Bob, also holding his own barbeque. Kitty insists they be neighborly, so Red and his for-once enthusiastic son, Eric, try to out-stage Bob, just when he is desperate to be the star host a last time before his shop, Bargain Bob's, has to close down because of Pricemart competition and everybody will know he's a professional failure. Donna only tells the Formans after they have won the battle for the guests, which they now try to send over to Bob's party. However clearly Hyde states to have absolutely no romantic interest in a bitchy snob like Jackie, she assumes he can only be playing hard to get and decides to make him jealous (actually, it works on her ex, Kelso and desperate virgin Fez) by dating hot Chip, who cares no more for her than Hyde. Then she promises to pass him on to man-eater Laurie once she's finished with him. Kitty makes Hyde doubt if his declared hating everything and everyone really applies to Jackie, so, seeing Chip's shallow attitude, Hyde takes Jackie to the Point, where they kiss without any sparks.—KGF Vissers
- On Veteran's Day, proud Vietnam vet Red looks down even more on his national guards neighbor. Red is angry that Bob marched in the Veteran's day parade despite being just in the National Guard. Red is planning a barbecue to attract some guests to his party. Bob also holding his own reunion and a barbecue on his lawns, but Kitty insists to be neighborly. So Red and his for once enthusiastic dogsbody Eric try to out-stage Bob.
They don't know that Bob is desperate to be the star host a last time before his shop Bobs Bargains has to close down because of Pricemart competition and everybody will know he's a professional failure. Midge tells Donna about her dad's professional troubles. Donna tries to talk to Eric and tell him that winning the barbecue is important for Bob, but they get into a fight about whose dad is a bigger jerk.
Donna tries to help her dad win the thing, while Eric tries to help Red. The battle escalates as Bob brings out the chicken and flag-colored napkins. Red brings out chopped onions and flag colored burgers. Bob responds with sparkler hot dogs. Red rolls out freshly squeezed orange juice. Bob brings out beer bottles. Red wins the BBQ battle when he rolls out a keg of beer. Donna only tells the Formans after they have won the battle for the guests, which they now try to send over to Bob's to make him feel good. Red blames Eric for ruining Bob's barbecue. Red makes Eric move the keg over to Bob's lawn. Eric cannot move the keg without Donna's help. Red tells Bob that he has been a real good friend and neighbor and that if he ever needs Red, he will be there for him. But he tells Bob not to cry.
However clearly Hyde states to have absolutely no romantic interest in a snob like Jackie. Donna makes Jackie realize that she is to Hyde, what Fez is to her. Jackie assumes he can only be playing hard to get and decides to make him jealous. But the tactic backfires as actually it works on her ex-Kelso and desperate virgin Fez, when she dates hot Chip (Kavan Reece). Laurie figures that Jackie is running an angle with Hyde with Chip, and wants Chip when Jackie is done with him. Hyde speaks to Chip and figures Chip hates Jackie as she talks too much. He is just using her till he can nail her. He calls Jackie a loose woman and Hyde drops him with a single punch.
Kitty makes Hyde doubt if his declared hating everything and everyone really applies to Jackie. Kitty points out that Hyde is always hanging out with Jackie. Kitty thinks that Hyde likes Jackie. Hyde can't figure out what's what and decides to take Jackie on a date. The date goes kind of flat as neither feels any emotions even when they kiss each other. Jackie agrees that Hyde was right about them all along. Kelso and Fez get drunk and imagine pink horses in Red's driveway.
