- Fred Noonan: [Noonan has been wounded, and the alcohol in his bloodstream is inhibiting the Doctor's attempts to heal him] There's just one thing I want to say to you first, even though it's four hundred years late. Amelia, I love you.
- Amelia Earhart: Fred, you never said anything...
- Fred Noonan: You're married, or you were. I guess he's dead now. I just wanted you to know before... before I met my maker.
- The Doctor: There! That should do it.
- Fred Noonan: Do what?
- The Doctor: You're healed.
- Fred Noonan: [Noonan looks, and his wound is gone] You mean I'm not gonna die?
- The Doctor: Aside from a hangover, you're going to be fine.
- Fred Noonan: [panicked] Oh, Amelia... you, uh, you gotta forget what I just told you! Promise me!
- Amelia Earhart: [grinning] Fred, I already have.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Mr. Paris, prepare the ship for landing.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Captain, I think I should tell you I've never actually landed a starship before.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: That's all right, Lieutenant, neither have I.
- [Paris is trying to start up a 20th century truck]
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Now, let's see - this is before voice command activation, so there should be something in here called a key...
- Amelia Earhart: How fast?
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Warp 9.9. In your terms, that's about four billion miles a second.
- Amelia Earhart: Think I could take her out for a spin?
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Well, uh...
- Fred Noonan: Now hear this, Commander. There's a gun pointed at the lady's head right now. So you call Washington, and you tell them we're holding your people prisoner, and they're not going anywhere until I personally talk to J. Edgar Hoover!
- [Noonan has been shot but is not responding to the Doctor's treatment due to his high alcohol intake]
- Amelia Earhart: Told you your drinking'd kill you one day.
- [the crew has to decide whether to settle on the planet or continue their journey on Voyager]
- Fred Noonan: You think many of 'em will stay here?
- Neelix: Oh, I don't think so. At least not many. Uh... well, that is, there's a, there's a good chance... Well, now that you ask, I honestly don't know.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: The remarkable thing about the humans on this planet... is that they evolved very much like the people on Earth. Tens of thousands of light years apart, both civilizations managed to create a world they could be proud of - one where war and poverty simply don't exist.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Am I the only one who's so intent on getting home? Is it just me? Am I leading the crew on a forlorn mission with... no real hope of success?
- Commander Chakotay: You're not alone. I wanna get home too. And there's not a day that goes by when I don't hear someone mention Earth.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: The people here have built a new Earth. We could stay, help them build a human civilization in the Delta Quadrant. Isn't that an exciting prospect, shouldn't we be grateful for the opportunity they're giving us?
- Commander Chakotay: It is a tempting prospect. But when I hold it up against the prospect of seeing the sun rise over the Arizona desert, or swimming in the Gulf of Mexico on a summer's day - there's just no comparison. I wanna go home.
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: You? You'd stay here on the planet?
- Ensign Harry Kim: I didn't say I was going to. I just said I could understand why people would want to. The people here remind me of home. I haven't felt like that since I left Earth.
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: But, but you're Starfleet. You've always wanted a life in space.
- Ensign Harry Kim: I know, but... my whole life? On a starship, day by day, with no end in sight - that's not exactly what I had in mind.
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: You're not the first person I've heard talk like this. A lot of people are thinking about staying.
- Ensign Harry Kim: What about you? Don't you have some of those feelings?
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: I'd be lying if I said I didn't.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: I don't want to lose anyone. We've all been through so much together, it just wouldn't seem right. But I couldn't blame anyone... anyone, for staying behind.
- [last lines]
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: All stations prepare for departure. Condition blue, Mr. Tuvok. Ms. Torres, anti-grav thrusters online.
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: Thrusters enabled.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Mr. Paris, inertial dampers to flight configuration. Impulse drive to standby.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Yes, ma'am.
- Ensign Harry Kim: All stations report ready, Captain.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Then let's do it. Take us up.
- John Evansville: The 37's were brought here 15 generations ago by the Briori.
- Commander Chakotay: Who are the Briori?
- John Evansville: They're an alien race. They abducted over 300 people from Earth in the year 1937, brought them here, turned them into slaves. But those slaves revolted, killed the Briori, took their weapons and technology, and survived! Now there are over 100,000 of us. The Briori never came back.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: In the meantime, I suggest we all brush up on ancient Earth. We're about to meet a bit of our history.
