- Hooky: When the mysterious "hooks" (fishing, that is) suddenly appear in Bikini Bottom, Mr. Krabs warns SpongeBob to stay away from them. Despite Mr. Krabs' scary tales of sea creatures winding up in gift shops or packed cans, Patrick convinces SpongeBob that there's no risk and the boys tempt fate by riding the hooks and jumping off for fun. Mermaidman and Barnacleboy II: SpongeBob wins the big prize from his favorite TV show, "The Adventures of Mermaidman and Barnacleboy" - The Conch Signal! Now he can summon the semi-retired super heroes whenever there's an emergency. Rather than keep getting signals for "emergencies" like opening jars, the duo take SpongeBob along for their patrol to see what real crime fighting is all about.—NAS
- Hooky:
Mr. Krabs rushes to the Krusty Krab shouting like a maniac, telling of the return of the hooks. The other fish ignore him, while SpongeBob is confused, and Mr. Krabs tells him that he has to be careful when near a hook, or he will be brought up to the surface and eaten or sold at a gift shop. Patrick shows up, saying that the carnival has come to town and insisting that SpongeBob come with him but SpongeBob is yet to know Patrick is referring to the hooks as the Carnival. He agrees, assuming that he's not quitting work but just taking a break.
The two friends go to the carnival, but much to SpongeBob's horror, the "carnival" is really the site of the hooks that Mr. Krabs warned everyone about. Patrick deliberately hooks himself, and shoots up towards the surface on it. SpongeBob panics, wails, and cries, until he sees Patrick again, who explains that he jumped off and floated down before he reached the surface of the sea. They both played hooky together.
Meanwhile, at the Krusty Krab, Squidward wasn't making the patties, and Mr. Krabs told him what happened. He said that SpongeBob took a break and he wasn't back yet. Mr. Krabs thought Squidward was playing around with him, and he asks Squidward to repeat what he said. After hearing this the second time, Mr. Krabs runs over to the hooks and runs to SpongeBob and Patrick to catch them, with Squidward being mauled by the angry mob. He misses the first time, but once SpongeBob and Patrick float down, Mr. Krabs catches them, and makes them promise to never go near the hooks again. However, the next day, Patrick persuades SpongeBob to play "hooky" again. SpongeBob denies the request, but he goes to the hooks anyway. SpongeBob was walking to the KK, but when he gets near a hook he first looks very sneaky and almost touches the hook, but then realizes he is doing the wrong thing and walks away like nothing happened. However, SpongeBob comes back and plays on the hook, and then...
SpongeBob gets caught on the hook, and, terrified, runs to the Krusty Krab for help. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that the only way to get the hook off is to take off his clothes right in front of Pearl and her friends. He first take off his pants, revealing his underwear. SpongeBob doesn't want to take off his underwear, and Mr. Krabs told him he will find another fry cook. SpongeBob pulls on The Krusty Krab sign and the hook takes his underpants away. SpongeBob was relived, but the sign flinged him into the door. Pearl and her friends laugh at SpongeBob for being naked. He screams and runs out of the Krusty Krab into his house. SpongeBob was never seen ever since the siege of the Krusty Krab.
However, it's then revealed it was Squidward who hooked SpongeBob and got him naked, and that he did that just because SpongeBob needed to learn his lesson. When Squidward pulls the ripped underwear into the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs congratulates him and Squidward tells Mr. Krabs that he thinks that SpongeBob will remember this for a long time as he will. Both Squidward and Mr. Krabs laugh. The episode ends with Patrick, trapped in a tuna can was dropped off from the bus shortly after SpongeBob ran home embarrased and he asks "Does somebody have a can opener?"
Mermaidman and Barnacleboy II:
One Saturday morning, SpongeBob is watching his favorite show, The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. He has entered a competition, and is listening eagerly to see if he's won the mystery prize. The announcer declares the winner as "SpringBoob SquirePin," for his life-sized Krabby Patty mannequins of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. SpongeBob calls out that SpringBoob SquirePin stole his idea, before the announcer announces that he has made a "slight" error in pronunciation, and that the real winner is indeed SpongeBob SquarePants!
Within seconds, SpongeBob's prize is delivered to him. SpongeBob has won the "conch signal," a conch whose noise is a signal which Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy respond to. SpongeBob blows it, and Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy hear it from Shady Shoals, and spring into action. When they arrive at SpongeBob's house, they at first think that he has been disfigured before recognizing him. He explains to them that he won the Conch Signal in a contest, and that there is no danger. They then explain to him the importance of the signal, and tell him that he must only use it for major emergencies.
Later on, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy hear the conch once again, and rush to SpongeBob's house, where he appears to be dead on the floor. However, he then reveals that he simply is having trouble opening a jar of mayonnaise. Barnacle Boy is angered by this, but Mermaid Man reminds him that emergencies don't come around as often as they used to, and he tells SpongeBob that he can blow the conch "every once in a while." However, SpongeBob abuses this privilege, constantly calling Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy to help with everyday tasks. Eventually, the two heroes are exhausted, and Barnacle Boy attempts to destroy the conch signal, but cannot bring himself to do so.
SpongeBob is in tears and apologizes, explaining that he just wanted to spend time with them. As a result, they let SpongeBob join them on their daily patrol, with SpongeBob dressed as a superhero. They do various activities, such as keeping lookout from on top of a tall building, and in the street, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy see an old man, who was once The Atomic Flounder. SpongeBob attacks the old man, not understanding that he is no longer a villain, and angered by this, the Atomic Flounder breathes fire in Barnacle Boy's face.
At a restaurant, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy ask SpongeBob to find their theme song on a jukebox. As he tries to find it, they decide to "ditch" SpongeBob. Outside, however, they are attacked and trapped by their nemesis, The Dirty Bubble. When SpongeBob finally finds the song, he comes outside to tell them, and sees their predicament. He asks the Dirty Bubble for his autograph, saying that he is his favorite supervillain, and "accidentally" pops the Dirty Bubble with a pencil tip, saving the day. The trio ride off in the Invisible Boatmobile, singing a Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy-themed version of "Jingle Bells" as the episode ends.
