The revelation that Mary Jane isn't the real person really broke Spider-Man's heart, especially since he would never officially be reunited with her during the remainder of the show's run. Now the comics have done something just as bad in order to keep them from getting back together again. Marvel's staff might have the power to create these stories. But they seem to have forgotten Spider-Man's cardinal rule: "With great power, there MUST also come great responsibility." In this case, they have failed us twice. At least John Semper had a way to fix it for the show. But the writers on the character in the comics seem to think that Spider-Man is undeserving of any kind of happiness.
