Great episode about racism
gangstahippie21 November 2008
Chef Goes Nanners is a South Park episode with a good moral lesson. It's one of the best episodes of Season 4 in my opinion. The episode has Chef and Jimbo debating about the south park flag. The flag features 4 white people rejoicing as they hang a black man.Chef wants the flag to be changed due to the racism.Jimbo is not racist but he does not want the flag to be changed because it represents history. The whole town is in debate whether to change the flag or not.The KKK also comes to town(it turns out Mr.Hat is a member).Meanwhile, the new teacher asks the students to debate the flag issue for class.Cartman is paired up with Wendy. They start liking each other and Wendy finds herself in love with Cartman. This is a very entertaining and good episode and the moral message is that you shouldn't see race, because we are all human.

Best Episode Ever!

Two storyline- one dealing with racism and other dealing with Cartman being in love with wendy. Although comic but with deep impact on one's mind. It's the best of the best. Everyone must watch this. I love how they handled the racism from both black and white side.

Stay strong

A new record!
ericstevenson29 June 2018
I would just like to let everybody know that I set a new record for most reviews written on the IMDb in one day! Well, a personal record. This is my 15th review for the day! I know it's probably not a world record, but it's at least something. Once again, I had no idea this episode even existed. I guess it's not one of the most memorable ones.

This episode features Chef wanting the South Park flag to be changed. The funniest part is probably when Chef mentions a monk who set himself on fire to protest violence in the 1960's and he says he'll do the same. So he sets a monk on fire. The resolution they have with the flag is very funny too. We do in fact learn a nice if weird lesson about racism. ***1/2

"I think it is history, I think it is racist"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of my personal favourites from Season 4 (2000) and maybe one of my all-time favourites, maybe Chef Goes Nanners will not be chosen by many persons as one of their favourites South Park episodes but in my opinion you really should watch it, it is clever, simple, unique and certainly hilarious. The fun stuff certainly comes from Eric Cartman and his relationship with Wendy but mostly comes from the Ku Klux Klan. There's only one character that we know that is part of the KKK and is not Jimbo or Ned or Mr. Garrison but the only racist son of a bitch is Mr. Hat! But why we watch the KKK? Well, because the one and only issue that concern the people of South Park is the issue of the racist flag of the town (hilarious that scene when we first see the flag, is great how the mayor ask to Chef something like why he considers that the flag is racist!). So there's a debate, we have the ones who are not racist but think that the flag should not be changed because it is part of the history (for example Jimbo and Ned) and the one who won't tolerate that the flag of the town where he lives is racist (Chef). Obviously the KKK is supporting Jimbo and Ned but the presence of these racist and crazy bastards will not help the cause of Jimbo and Ned for obvious reasons. So the debate is the issue in South Park then in the school kids will have their own debate on the same flag issue, of course is only a scholar activity but since the mayor doesn't want more responsibilities the debate of the kids will decide if the South Park flag will or will not be changed! Then we have in Stan and Kyle (and Kenny, who dies and after that we have and enjoy an unusual moment) the leaders of the side that wants to keep the flag and in Wendy and Cartman the leaders of the side that wants a new flag. The kids will give a real lesson to everyone, it is great and after all this was a sad episode for Cartman.

Embarrassing episode

The conclusion and message of this episode is absolutely embarrassing. South Park has a fair few poor political/social takes but this is probably the worst. It's bafflingly bad.

Mediocre episode, but the message brings it to a one for being cringely asinine.

The episode is standard, and without such a contrived and stupid resolution, it would be around a 6/10, but given the totally moronic political take the creators shoehorn in at the end, this is an embarrassing episode to rewatch.

It is quite literally the Michael Scott: "Thats not what a hate crime is", "Well, I hated it!" joke, except taken seriously.
