"Insurgence" is one of the best episodes of "Smallville". The secret disclosed in the safe of Lionel Luthor is amazing, and Clark Kent practically flies for the first time. The behavior of Jonathan Kent with Lex Luthor is excessively rude, and I do not understand why Lex continues to be so gentle with him. My vote is ten.
Title (Brazil): "Insurreição" ("Insurrection")
As for this episode: A really good thriller. I have one problem with it, however. At the end, Martha puts the octagon in a tub of flour under the counter. Obviously the writers have her do this so that someone with not so good intentions will find it in a future episode. The smart thing to do would have been to give it to Clark, who would be able to hide it someplace that only a person with his super powers would be able to find it.
Another exciting element of this episode was that this was the first to present Metropolis, Superman's turf, to the watching audience.
Th show begins with an enraged Lex Luthor, who rightfully should be after discovering that his father has placed hidden cameras throughout the house in order to spy on his son. In retaliation, Lex plans an interrogation on the LuthorCorp building in Metropolis, believing that no one will be there with the interrogation planned on a Sunday. Coincidentally, however, Martha was asked by Lionel to work that day, upsetting her husband, who was planning a special anniversary event that day. Lex has seconds thoughts after learning that Martha is in the building, but before Lex can stop his team, one of the members, obsessed with what is in Lionel's sealed vault, holds up the building. Extreme tension builds between Jonathan and Lex, Jonathan and Lionel, and Clark and Lex, for the responsibility that the Luthors have on their hands for putting Martha in danger. As the episode nears its climactic and riveting conclusion, something incredible is revealed to have been hiding in the vault, and Clark, desperate to save his mother, goes to a drastic measure pushing even the limits of his unique abilities...
Standing on its own, 'Insurrection' is a very special episode for its tension, conflict and excitement.

Jonathan Kent: [to Lex, slamming his coffee cup down] Look, I don't know how things work in your house, but around here, we think it's important to respect other people's privacy.
Clark Kent: Dad...
Lex Luthor: It's all right, Clark.
[to Jonathan]
Lex Luthor: Mr. Kent, since the day I moved to Smallville I've done nothing but try to be a friend to you. And in return, you do nothing but lecture me with sanctimonious platitudes. I'm done listening to them.
