- Lisa is on her bed, playing her saxophone and Bart is on a prank phone call to Principal Skinner. When Bart tells Lisa to keep it down, she says that it's her room and that she can do what she wants. Bart then goes to his room and starts kicking the wall, claiming that he could keep it up all day long. Lisa moves to the Garage, where Homer is trying to "fix the very expensive camera" by hammering down on a power drill. Marge meanwhile, is in the living room daydreaming about sailing with a "pirate", before the sound of Lisa's saxophone wakes her up and Marge claims that she wants some quiet time and Lisa says she is practicing for the first chair. Lisa then plays the saxophone outside, making Ned think that it is "judgement day". In Miss Hoovers classroom, the kids finish writing their papers and Miss Hoover asks the class an "extra credit" question, which Lisa knows, but a girl named Allison, who is sitting in the back of the class answers the question correctly and makes Miss Hoover say "yowee". At lunchtime, Lisa goes up to Allison and she says she is seven years old and was skipped a grade because she was getting bored of the first grade. Lisa then says she needs to go and practice the saxophone and Allison says she is also going for first chair saxophone, which disappoints Lisa. Meanwhile, Homer is in the driving seat of the car, eating a pizza and Bart is steering, when they come across a truck on its side, that had been carrying lots of sugar. Homer tells the driver (Hans Moleman) to go and call for help before shoveling the sugar into the car. Marge is daydreaming again, before Lisa asks her, why she is still "rotting away in the second grade". Now in the kitchen, the family are now eating dinner that Homer had prepared, but the meal is full of sugar. Homer then says that he plans to sell sugar to the consumers for $1.00 per pound, despite the grocery store selling it for less. Back at Springfield elementary, Band auditions are going ahead, with Jimbo on the tambourine (who passes), before Lisa and Allison both play the tune, and Mr Largo says this is a tough decision, before Allison continues to play. Just as Mr Largo is about to call Allison the winner, Lisa plays her saxophone again, before they both play in synchronized and Lisa passes out. When Lisa wakes up, Mr Largo tells her that Allison won first chair and Lisa screams, before passing out again. When she wakes up again, Mr Largo tells her it is not a dream and Lisa screams. Back at home, Lisa talks to Marge about her envy towards Allison and Marge said not to be too competitive, because then you would never be happy. Homer arrives at Principal Skinners house with a bag of sugar and gets Skinner grounded by his mother. Miss Hoovers class do another test and Ralph Wiggum asks Allison what the answer is, to which she responds, "I can't tell you", Lisa says she can't tell him either but Ralph ignores her, making Lisa even more frustrated. Out in the playground, the older girls push Allison into the mud and Lisa talks to Bart and Bart says that he could help her get some dirt on Allison, but Lisa rejects his offer. Homer talks to Marge and tells her that he found a dollar, whilst waiting for a bus and Marge says that the power plant called and said if he didn't go in the following day, not to bother coming in at all and Homer gets the wrong end of the stick. Lisa lays on her bed and daydreams about her playing in the second best band and the audience all boo. Bart then comes in and shows Lisa his research on Allison and says she's completely clean, but has tipped the feds as to where Milhouse is and the agent makes him jump off a waterfall. Meanwhile, Lisa wants to know Allison better, so she comes over to her house and plays an anagram game with Allison and her father. After Lisa gives her answer, Professor Taylor (Allison's father) gives her a red ball to bounce. The next shot is of Allison and Lisa walking into Allison's awards closet and Lisa notices Allison's diorama for the school contest and Allison says it is of the telltale heart by Edgar Allan Poe. In the garden of the Simpsons house, Homer is laying against his pile of sugar, holding a baseball bat, before falling asleep, when Marge walks out and wakes Homer up and tells him he is being paranoid. At that moment, Homer reveals a man in a British accent, trying to nick the sugar for his tea, before walking off. After Marge walks away, a swarm of bees come and ravage the sugar and Homer tries to swat them away and he gets stung. In Lisa's room, her and Bart are working on her diorama on Oliver Twist, but when Lisa turns on the fan to create the snowstorm, her diorama falls out the window and Lisa says she'll never beat Allison, but Bart recommends sabotaging her diorama, embarrassing Allison in front of everyone and Lisa agrees. A couple of beekeepers are talking about how quiet it is, suggesting there are no bees, so they go to the "beemobile" aka the Chevy. The beekeepers talk to Homer and say they'll pay quite a lot of money to get the bees back off him. At that moment though, it starts to rain, making the bees fly away and melting the sugar and Homer starts crying. Marge feels sorry for Homer, but Homer says that it is ok and then he has learnt his lesson. Back at the school, it is the diorama-rama competition and Principal Skinner and Miss Hoover are the judges and they judge, Nelson on his "grapes of wrath", which he uses a hammer to squash the grapes right onto them and Uter on Charlie and the chocolate factory. When Principal Skinner picks up his box, it is empty and it is revealed that Uter ate the chocolate himself. At that moment, Bart hands Lisa the fake diorama and creates a diversion by making noises, whilst Lisa switches Allison's diorama with the fake one and places her old one under the floorboards. Principal Skinner tells Bart to get out and he leaves. Skinner and Miss Hoover walk up to Allison's entry and takes the cloth off and reveals a cows heart and Skinner feels insulted. He confronts Allison about her diorama and she starts to cry. Lisa starts to feel so guilty that she starts imagining a beating heart coming from beneath the floorboards and screams, before opening the hatch and taking Allison's real diorama out. It is judged by Miss Hoover, but much to Lisa's surprise, she doesn't like it much. Bart tells Lisa she's going to win, but Lisa doesn't feel like she deserves it. Skinner and Miss Hoover instantly say it's not good enough and move onto Ralph Wiggums entry, who has put packaged Star Wars figurines in his box and they declare him the winner. After school, Allison and Lisa are walking back home and Lisa apologizes for the way she had acted, before Ralph trips over and bends his "Wookie", before Allison and Lisa pick him up and walk either side of him, going back to play anagrams.
