- Alek and Carrie are spending a lot of time together. They try all the international cuisines on offer in New York. Alek even cooks for Carrie in her own apartment. Carrie loves spending time with him. Alek finds a mouse in Carrie's apartment and brutally smashes it with a frying pan. In a single blow, the mouse is dead.
Carrie gets upset at Aleksandr for being inconsiderate of her feelings about Samantha's cancer. Alek mentions his friend Sophie who got breast cancer and died from it. Carrie is very upset when Alek won't stop talking about Sophie and feels that Alek thinks the same is going to happen to Samantha. She has a fight with Alek and leaves. Carrie is adamant that Samantha is not going to die, but Alek says that he is simply being realistic. Alek says that Carrie is acting like a child, while Carrie says that Alek is listening to her. Later, they make up and understand that they are very different people who deal with tragedy differently.
Miranda's new family outgrows her apartment. Even Steve's dog and Miranda's cat are fighting. Steve starts scouring the papers for available apartments in the city. But then he finds a listed house in Brooklyn. Miranda considers buying a house in Brooklyn, even though she is a Manhattan person and hates Brooklyn. Many cabbies won't drive to Brooklyn. But when Miranda sees her family in the house, she melts and decides to do what's best for her family. Steve tells Miranda that it isn't about her anymore, and that soon Brady will grow up and need his own space. The house requires a lot of work, but it has a huge potential. Miranda starts negotiating the terms for the purchase.
Charlotte is running in the park when a dog comes running to her. The owner, Trudy Stork (Dana Ivey), is nearby and tells Charlotte that her dog Dandyridge is a show dog, but has a defect, her one leg is shorter than the other. Charlotte loves the dog. Meanwhile her eggs are not good even for IVF. She has had 2 failed attempts at IVF but refuses to give up. Harry starts to look at some options for adoption. Trudy is touched by how much Charlotte loves Dandyridge and it emotional to hear about Charlotte's own imperfections when it comes to conception. She gifts the dog to Charlotte. She names her Elizabeth Taylor.
Samantha's hair falls out as a result of chemotherapy, during sex with Smith Jerrod. Samantha tries to get a wig but can't find anything that looks like her own hair or is her style or color. Samantha tells Carrie that she is afraid of dying. Carrie is not willing to entertain the possibility, but Samantha wants to talk about it openly and practically. Samantha shaves off her head. Samantha says that Smith cannot handle her in this state, but Smith is adamant that he was in shock, but he will be with her every step of the way. Samantha is not convinced that Smith can relate to what she is going through. He shaves his own head off in solidarity.
