- When even her friends are sick and tired of Carrie's raving after the break-up with Mr. Big, she takes their advice to go to therapy, as everybody does in Manhattan, and gets a surprise bonus: in the waiting room she meets Seth, who proves a substitutive therapy in the flesh.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie starts going to therapy (Dr Ellen Greenfield) after obsessing about Big for too long to the girls. The girls indicate that Carrie has moved from being pleasantly neurotic to annoyingly troubled. Even Stanford says that Carrie needs to have a therapist. Stanford has 3, one for when he needs to be cuddled, one for tough love, and one as eye candy. Miranda had referred Carrie to Ellen.
Ellen asks Carrie about her ex, due to which her friends asked her to see a therapist. Carrie says he was smart and sexy. Carrie says that he was playing games and she was just along with him for the ride. Ellen says that all of the men Carrie has dated in the past have Carrie as the common factor. Offended by the diagnosis of dating men who are wrong for her, she dates cute fellow-patient Seth (Jon Bon Jovi). Carrie is adamant that she does not pick the wrong guys, they pick her.
Carrie meets Seth in the waiting room of her therapist's office. Seth asks Carrie out, but Carrie was already eyeing her and had dressed up for her 3rd session, so that she could impress Seth. Seth takes Carrie out on a date and Carrie decides not to play games with Seth. She says that she likes Seth. Carrie has sex with Seth right after the 2nd date. Seth tells Carrie that he is in therapy as he is a guy who loses interest in women after sleeping with them. Carrie realizes Ellen is right. She does pick the wrong men. Carrie stops seeing Ellen as she cannot go through the humiliation of seeing Seth again.
Miranda plays "peek-a-boo" with her cute across-the-air-shaft neighbor. The neighbor lives in a flat above hers, in a building across the shaft from Miranda's. She notices the neighbor looking into her apartment, when she was reading a book at the window. Things progress from coy giggles to doing tit for tats (showing her tits and his tats). But the next day, her neighbor simply won't acknowledge her at the grocery store. Miranda tries very hard to get the neighbor to notice her, but with no success. She introduces herself, only to realize that the guy had been cruising the dude living below Miranda's apartment. Miranda makes a hasty exit from the grocery store.
Samantha dates a sports fanatic Dan Selgar (importer of Mexican handbags) whose mood depends on who won the game that night. Samantha is excited to see Dan's passion for sports and believes that she can expect the same passion in bed. Samantha only has sex if the Knicks win as Don is a fanatic, and needless to say Knicks have been on a very long losing streak for a while. Samantha stays with Dan, as sex with Dan is unbelievable.
Finally, the basketball season is over, and Samantha is looking forward to returning to her normal sex life. But then Dan turns to Baseball. Samantha breaks up with him as Mets have been lousy all year and she cannot withstand another sexless season.
