- Miranda is determined not to become a mental full-time-mother, but the reality of breastfeeding is inescapable. Charlotte blurts out to believe the theory everyone only gets two great loves. Carrie is alone but determined to enjoy the countless forms of entertainment in New York.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie is enjoying the single life in New York. She goes to movies and operas and museums by herself and enjoys her time with the city and what it has to offer. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) realizes her relationship with New York City is as dysfunctional as is her relationship with men. The museum turns out to be closed. A sudden gust of wind lifts her skirt. It starts raining and Carrie takes refuge under an apartment front and runs into a cute guy. She says that this is how people meet in a romantic movie. She starts chatting all by herself, to the extent that the guy decides to leave and brave the pelting rain. She can't get a table at a restaurant as singles are supposed to sit at the counter.
Charlotte decides she needs to distance herself from her former life as "Mrs. MacDougal". She changes her mailbox back to "York". Anthony (Mario Cantone) encourages Charlotte to take advantage of fleet week to have a random fling and to put her MacDougal past behind her.
Its fleet week in NY and Carrie runs into a couple of sailors on the street, who invite her and her friends to a Navy party that night. She takes Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall). Soon Carrie finds that sailors there find her similar to their moms. As she is about to leave, she finds Louis (Daniel Sunjata) who invited her to the party. Carrie stays for a dance. Charlotte finds an officer who wants to see her breasts. Meanwhile Samantha has fun playing with the sailors. Just like that Carrie's faith in NYC is restored.
Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) tries to adjust to her new life with her baby, Brady Hobbes. She can't do all the girly things that she used to be able to do earlier with the girls, like gossiping and shopping or just living her life. She is moving away from her old life and quickly getting overwhelmed by her new one. The most important issue in her life is that she has been trying to feed Brady for an hour, and he can't latch on to her nipple. Miranda is distraught since her friendships are important to her.
Steve (David Eigenberg) tries to get involved, but Miranda keeps shutting him out. Magda (Lynn Cohen) is Miranda's maid and she keeps trying to bring Steve and Miranda closer. Miranda finally has to call on Steve when her cat starts eating her baby's shredded belly button, which she finds too gross and her hired help nurse Lena refuses to deal with this situation. Miranda says that she is not prepared to deal with the unexpected.
Samantha gets phone calls from Richard (James Remar) begging her to take him back. Charlotte tells Samantha to cut Richard emotionally out of her life and move on. Charlotte has a theory that every person gets 2 great loves in their life, something that the other girls disagree with. Charlotte had Trey, Samantha had Richard, Miranda claims she hasn't had any, and Carrie has had Aidan (John Corbett) and Big (Chris Noth). And so, technically she is done. This depresses Carrie.
She starts distributing pamphlets that tell NYC how he cheated on her. Richard still persists in calling Samantha and she relents.
