The Soup Nazi

Seinfeld

Partagé avec vous
The Soup Nazi offers the following 11 soups from his menu: Mulligatawny, Crab Bisque, Turkey Chili, Jambalaya, Black Bean, Chicken Broccoli, Clam Bisque, Split Pea, French Onion, Mushroom Barley, and Tomato Rice.
The Soup Nazi was based on Al Yeganeh, the real-life owner of Soup Kitchen International in Manhattan, New York City. After the episode aired, Jerry Seinfeld and members of the cast and crew went to the restaurant for lunch. Yeganeh yelled at them and stated that the publicity had ruined his reputation. After Seinfeld offered an apology, Yeganeh yelled, "No soup for you!" and ejected them from his restaurant. Any references to "Seinfeld" are forbidden in any Soup Kitchen International.
The Soup Nazi (Larry Thomas) is based on the actual owner, Al Yeganeh, of a take-out soup business in Manhattan on West 55th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. Just like in the sitcom, his soups were known for their excellent quality, but Yeganeh was also famous for the unusual way he treated his customers. Instead of calling him a Nazi, local patrons called him a terrorist, presumably because they knew Yeganeh was born in Iran, not Germany. Yeganeh was so angered by the episode (The Soup Nazi (1995)), that he forbade the use of "Nazi" in his restaurants. Even the slightest reference to this show would push his buttons (it can be seen in an interview he did with CNN). So when some cast members and writers from this show bravely visited the restaurant after the episode aired, Yeganeh claimed that the show had ruined his life.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus had not seen Le Temps d'un week-end (1992) at the time and had to be coached for her Al Pacino impression.
One summer, Jerry Seinfeld and some of the writing staff would go outside to hit baseballs in the CBS Radford Studios parking lot while in pre-production. There weren't many cars in the lot at the time so it wasn't a big deal. But one day, a ball crashed through the window of one such parked car. Seinfeld found out that the car belonged to Alexandra Wentworth who was later cast as Sheila in this episode. Jerry paid for the damages.
A part in which Larry (Lawrence A. Mandley) the coffee shop owner tells the two couples to stop kissing was cut for time. Larry can still be seen looking at them disapprovingly in the background as the two couples kiss.
