Paranoid George at it Again
Samuel-Shovel3 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Soul Mate", Jerry starts dating a girl who Kramer falls madly in love with. Kramer enlists the help of Newman to win her heart. George is convinced that the foundation's board believes George killed Susan. Paranoid, he leaves a briefcase with a tape recorder in it running in a meeting after he leaves. But he can't decipher what he hears on the tape. Elaine meets a man which makes her question whether she wants kids or not.

Jerry, Kramer, and Elaine's subplots in this one is kind of a big shrug for me. There's nothing memorable going on with them. However, I find George's scheme hilarious and makes this episode worth watching if only for that. Plus, who doesn't love an episode involving Newman?

Brilliant

The scene where Newman is feeding lines to Kramer to woo Pam but derails when she mentions "junk mail" is arguably the funniest thing to have emerged from the human mind.

Love on the Fly

George is filled with a ton of paranoia. He attends the Foundation meeting but believes everyone thinks he killed Susan. So he plants a tape recorder in his briefcase to hear what they are saying about him when he leaves the room. Jerry has a girlfriend and when Kramer comes over, he immediately falls in love with her. He doesn't know what to say so he engages Newman to come up with words, a la Cyrano de Bergerac. Jerry is really annoyed by this. There is a great scene in the library where she works as Newman feeds Kramer the words to make her care for him. Of course, Michael Richards is dynamite here.

Kramer is trouble

Kramer's steals Jerry's food, items and now his girl.

Hey there reader.

This Seinfeld review was created and written on June 4th in 2023rd of the Century 21st in the Gregorian Calendar.

What was this episode of Seinfeld about?: Kramer attempts to steal Jerry's girl. With help from Postal worker Newman.

Elaine deals with Bizarro Jerry about not having offspring.

George investigates on who sabotaged his briefcase.

Jerry tries to be ga ga over Pam.

The Story and Production Overview: A Good episode. Nothing stood out WOW, nevertheless this felt like a good episode to indulge in. Elaine's storyline was the most staionary and boring. Everyone else had some energy to it.

Highlight: When Kramer pounces through the door on his knees.

Red Ranger Cameo.

Girlfriend attractiveness level: she's a 7.8 in the face, but had no bod.

Villain: Kramer for trying to steal Jerry's chick. The foundation for accusing George of murder when he is innocent.

Overall: A good episode.

What can be learned?: Don't steal someone else's girl...

Verdict: soulmates do not exist.

Dedicated to Victor Wayne Harris
safenoe19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The Soul Mate, from the eighth season of Seinfeld, is dedicated to Victor Wayne Harris, who I recently learned was the Assistant Prop Manager. Also, Kim Myers, who plays Pam, has a resemblance to Meryl Streep that's for sure, and it's something one of the other imdb user reviewers found out. There's a real dramatic strand in The Soul Mate, with Kramer and Jerry vying for Pam, and Kramer enlists Newman, played by Wayne Knight, famous for starring opposite Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, in which Michael Douglas played a supporting role. Anyway, I'm enjoying re-watching Seinfeld after having first watched it when it debuted in the 1990s.

Missed Opportunity

Jerry is dating a woman who's a dead ringer for Meryl Streep. Why didn't the writers incorporate that into the script? They could've gotten a lot of mileage out of that.

''I love prison.'' ''It is fascinating.'' ''Maybe some day...'' Who writes this crap... Who actually likes this crap...

Warning: Spoilers
I like the bit where Jerry told George that Humpty Dumpty should've represented him in the model of the conference room and not the red ranger!!! What a mysterious and stupid episode. ''Oh, help me, Rhonda.'', ''Yes, I think I am better than the mollusk.'', George made it look obvious that he purposely gently layed the briefcase before he left that office room, George to Jerry; ''Let me tell you: That Jerry Lewis-- You wonder how people get to the top? It's ideas like this. Brilliant! Ha!'' That's how Larry David suckered/brainwashed the whole ''Seinfeld'' fanbase into liking this show!!! Kramer to Jerry; ''She can bring home the bacon and fry it in the pan.'' ''Rumple. Squink. Galonk...'' ''I once told a woman to shut up and _____ my _____!'' ''I got a vasectomy this morning...'' ''Wow. Newman sure can run for a fat man...'' A whole lotta gibberish and non-sense in this one ep. alone.'' ''This thing is like an onion; the more layer you peel, the more it stinks.'' ... ''Genius (sarcasm)!'' ''Reversed... vasectomy...''
