The scene where Jerry & George watch a guy remain calm & keep eating his sandwich, while his girlfriend was making a scene was inspired by a real life event that Jason Alexander witnessed. He claims to have witnessed a similar scene between a famous actor who kept calm & indifferent while his famous actress girlfriend cried uncontrollably. He refused to name names though.

Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) wants to see the movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space." This is the same film he, George (Jason Alexander) & Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) attempted to see in episode, 2.11, The Chinese Restaurant (1991). After waiting, nobody goes, so he goes to see it with Kramer (Michael Richards), the only one of the four who wasn't going to see it originally.
The character of Rabbi Kirschbaum is named after writer Bruce Kirschbaum and evolved from a sketch on Fridays. Bruce Kirschbaum & Larry David portrayed rabbis who had their own television program called "Live & Be Well." Bruce Mahler, who played Rabbi Kirschbaum in this episode, also worked on Fridays (1980) along with Michael Richards and writer Larry Charles.
