- Laney's dog problem is solved by a rabbi in her apartment complex with a cable show. The rabbi talks to the owner of the dog, who agrees to keep him inside during night hours. Jerry guesses that Elaine is jealous and wishes that it was her and not George, who was getting married. Laney later confides in the rabbi (Bruce Mahler) about her insecurity about George getting engaged. The rabbi offers to set up Elaine with his nephew who owns a flower shop. Elaine regrets ever talking about this to the rabbi. The rabbi later tells several people, including Jerry, about Laney's insecurity toward George's wedding. Elaine is livid that rabbi told Jerry about her issues with George getting married before her.
Kramer's involvement in the dog-napping worries him. The incident will be on his permanent records and can never be erased. He will never be able to get a job.
George and Susan have no common subjects to talk about. Whatever topic George brings up (like why the bathroom stall doors don't go down to the floor), Susan shuts him down and asks him to change the subject. George is sure that Susan doesn't like him, and they have no common interests. George decides he wants to postpone the engagement until March 21 (Spring Equinox), he is currently engaged to be married in December, but has decided that he needs more time as he feels Susan doesn't like him. George is afraid of Susan. She is 5 foot and 3 inches tall, a 100 pounds and he is terrified of her. Jerry backs George when George tells Jerry about his desire to postpone the wedding. George says he would never turn Jerry in, even if he murdered someone. Kramer makes no such promise and that irks Jerry. Kramer says that if Jerry is capable of killing one person, then Kramer might be next. So, he doesn't know Jerry at all, and will have no issues in turning him in.
His first effort to postpone the wedding leads to Susan (Heidi Swedberg) becoming hysterical and bursting into tears. George tried to sell it as a perfect day for the wedding, first day of spring, rejuvenation, rebirth and so on. But Susan right through it and calls it a postponement. Susan says that George doesn't want to marry her. Later George gets the idea to be nonchalant about the whole thing after watching a man dump his girlfriend at Monk's. Intending to try a similar approach, he breaks down in tears and begs Susan to postpone the wedding (George says that he needs more time); touched by his show of emotions, Susan agrees to postpone the wedding.
Kramer and Jerry go to see Plan 9 from Outer Space at the cinema. Kramer sneaks in gourmet coffee, spills it and scalds himself; he says he has a case for a lawsuit (an obvious allusion to the well-known McDonald's coffee case). Jerry rats Kramer out and he is thrown out of the theatre. Kramer later thanks Jerry as he is suing the coffee maker for it being too hot.
The episode ends with George and Susan watching the rabbi's television show and the rabbi recounting the story Laney told him including a part about George (the rabbi references both Laney and George by name) wanting to know if it was still cheating if he paid for a prostitute while engaged, resulting in the wedding's postponement being revoked.
