- Elaine's latest boyfriend likes to be known as "The Maestro"; Kramer reaches an unsatisfactory settlement with the coffee company, much to his lawyer's chagrin.
- Kramer is pursuing his lawsuit against a coffee shop for selling him coffee that was too hot. Jackie Chiles represents him and thinks they'll make a fortune. He may have a problem when Elaine's new boyfriend gives him a balm that cleans up his burn mark overnight. The boyfriend, who conducts the police band, insists that everyone call him Maestro, which is just a bit too pretentious. Meanwhile, George goes shopping with Susan at a store owned by her family. He's not too keen on the clothes she thinks he should wear and he's bothered by the fact that the security guard must stand all day.—garykmcd
- Elaine is dating Kramer's friend Bob Cobb, who wants everybody to call him "Maestro" because he's a conductor and Leonard Bernstein's closest friends called him "Maestro" too. Bob owns a house in Tuscany, but tells Jerry that it's impossible to get a house down there. Of course Jerry tries to confirm this. Meanwhile, Kramer wants to sue the coffee shop (Java World) that sold him the hot coffee which scalded him in the previous episode. He hires Jackie Chiles, a lawyer with a striking resemblance to real-life attorney Johnnie Cochran. George thinks it must be hard for the security guard at Susan's uncle's store to stand up all day so he buys him a chair.—KnatLouie
- Susan takes George to her uncle's store to shop for wedding clothes. Concerned for a security guard at Susan's uncle's store who must stand all day, George delivers a rocking chair to the store, using his standing as the owner's soon-to-be nephew to override objections. The guard is so comfortable in the chair that he sleeps through a robbery.
Elaine begins dating Bob Cobb (Mark Metcalf), a.k.a. the "Maestro", and immerses herself in classical music.
Kramer has hired lawyer Jackie Chiles to sue coffee chain Java World for serving him coffee which was hotter than an acceptable temperature, and which caused him physical harm. Jackie says the top of the coffee cup was faulty and failed to protect Kramer from the spilled drink. Jackie gets a sample of the cup and the top from Java World to run some stability tests on it. Kramer hears from Jackie, who says that Java World wants to settle.
The Maestro gives Kramer a balm for his coffee burns from the previous episode, but Kramer is caught off-guard by how quickly the balm heals his burn. Jackie is furious at Kramer for using the balm which healed his burn, before the doctor could have a proper look at it. Meanwhile the Java World attorney is prepared to offer free coffee for life, and $50,000 in cash. At a meeting with the coffee chain Java World to negotiate an out-of-court settlement, he is so nervous at the possibility that they will ask to see the burn that he eagerly agrees to the settlement as soon as a Java World representative mentions unlimited free coffee, cutting him off before he can finish listing the terms of the offer. This infuriates Kramer's lawyer Jackie Chiles (Phil Morris), who realizes that Java World were about to mention monetary compensation.
Jerry is frustrated that Elaine and George have no problem with Bob's insistence on being called "Maestro" instead of his real name. Jerry tells Kramer that Bob conducts the Policeman's benevolent association orchestra and those are hardly any credentials to label somebody a "Maestro". Elaine argues with Bob that conductors are called Maestro while they are on stage and not in social situations. But Bob insists that he be called Maestro at all times. Eventually, Elaine is OK with calling him Maestro.
Bob has a house in Tuscany. Jerry mentions that he has always wanted to visit Tuscany. Bob has invited Elaine to visit Tuscany for the summer. Furthermore, the Maestro's unsolicited declaration that there are no houses to rent anywhere in Tuscany makes him suspect Maestro of lying to keep him out of Tuscany. Meastro claims that the houses are passed down from generation to generation. He says the whole town is booked solid. Jerry asks Poppie about the matter, as Poppie is also from Tuscany. He is referred to Poppie's cousin, who appears to be a mafia boss, making Jerry too afraid to turn down his insistent offer that he rent a house. Jerry has rented a Tuscany villa for $1700, without actually having any intentions to rent anything.
Elaine and Maestro are enjoying his house in Tuscany when Jerry and Kramer noisily arrive at the house across the street in a taxi; both Elaine and Maestro react with exasperation.
