The doctor gives Fred six months
kevinolzak9 December 2016
"The Over-the Hill Gag" opens with Fred receiving a check up with Doctor Goodman (Keene Curtis), courtesy Lamont's pretty nurse girlfriend Audrey (Odessa Cleveland). His $100 fee is less than half his usual charge, giving Fred six months to pay it off. This is overheard by his son, who mistakenly assumes that his father has only six months left to live: "I was stretching it a bit at that, just take it and be thankful he's got that much time!" Fred is at first puzzled to have Lamont serving his favorite meal, but before he can set the record straight about his perfect health he learns that Lena Horne is practically on her way over (previously seen in the second season's "A Visit from Lena Horne"). The surprise party gets off to a rough start when Fred sees Aunt Esther and Ah Chew (Pat Morita, fifth of seven): "my two favorite diseases in the same room, yellow jaundice and the black plague!" Once Audrey drops off Fred's test results everyone realizes that he's not dying, and plan accordingly for the guest of honor.
