I thought this episode was about to take a terrible turn.

I adored the last Roswell Christmas episode. But with two nephews that fall on different parts of the autism spectrum, I just knew this episode was about to commit a huge no-no. Especially by today's standards unfortunately. But this episodes content was so far ahead of its time that it blows my mind honestly. To recognize that people with autism don't need to be healed while also understanding that even when people in their lives wish with their whole hearts to understand, sometimes they just fall short by no fault of their own. I didn't think they could outdo season 2's Christmas episode but brava to the writers, creators, and actors for just getting it right with this topic. It was truly beautiful.

Christmas shows are corny, but...

Warning: Spoilers
Normally I balk at most TV Christmas shows, however this is one of the most touching and heartwarming shows I have ever seen. At first I thought it might be an awkward and creepy episode. Awkward, because Maria and Michaels previous breakup yet they still manage to be with each other. Creepy because the poor kid with autism looks a bit alien like, and well just as my cousin who also has autism it's tough to get used to. With all that being said this episode has many great moments. From the north pole scene to Isabella as the Christmas Nazi again. I found myself laughing from the gut more than a few times. In the end though, I aka: never crys at TV shows, was nearly bawling during the dream scene and when Max brings the present to the young boy. I could chalk it up to knowing a person with autism and having wild dreams that they will be "normal" someday, but I think it was really just excellent acting and writing. This episode goes down as one of my favorite episodes of Roswell in the entire series. This show was gone before its time, but it became a great show in the end.

Samuel was in an X-Files episode a year later

And he plays the character there in the exact same way that he played it here. His eyes were amazing, The kid performed as an autistic child perfectly, i've known autistic children that were exactly like this.

This is the last time we get to see Isabel as the "Christmas Nazi", she was actually running that entire Christmas park. I thought Michael was doing a great job as Santa, and it was extremely funny when the kids catch him and Maria as an elf in Santa's shack.

So many good things in this episode. Especially the Christmas music at the end those are some of the best version of those songs I've ever heard.

The music in this show is always rather good even though I don't particularly like some of the bands that they had chosen. The songs were always appropriately selected.

This is one of my favorite Christmas episodes from any of the shows that I've seen where they had them, there is a lot of hope here. I try to watch this at least a couple of times per year
