At one point Roseanne says, "It's not like I'd ever win an Emmy or anything..." This references the fact that Roseanne Barr had been nominated but never won an Emmy for the show. Coincidently she did win an Emmy for her work on the show in 1993.
During the commercial, Sara Gilbert sports a hairstyle very similar to the one her sister, Melissa Gilbert, sported in "Little House on the Prairie."
This was Dan Conner's first television commercial, for the restaurant, Rodbells. Much like his character, John Goodman's first television appearance was a commercial for Burger King. He had no lines. He only had to take a bite of a Burger with a happy smile very similar to his daughter, Darlene (Sara Gilbert), when she's all smiles biting into a french fry.
In this episode, DJ's friend Todd is played by Adam Hendershott. The character was previously played by Troy Davidson.
Life seemed to imitate art as Roseanne was fired for breaking nazi law from the commercial while Jackie and the rest of the family were allowed to stay, like Roseanne being fired from "The Conners." and the rest of the cast stayed.
