Nancy Wilson Guest Stars

The faculty wants to encourage kids to stay in school, a former dropout Mchelle Scott, who is now a famous pop singer, is asked to speak at the school.

A good episode about drop outs. Wilson had a few minor hit records and appeared in a handful of movies and TV shows. This one begins with some teachers doing a funny skit about staying in school. Pete is a bit annoyed that Michelle did some jokes on TV about dropping out, but convinces her to do the speech. Liz becomes jealous when Pete starts spending too much time with Michelle. Another interesting thing is that Michelle says when she went to Walt Whitman High, Mr Kaufman was the principal then as well.

The problem of high school dropouts
dtucker8611 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Michelle Scott is an alumni of Walt Whitman High although technically not a distinguished one. Even though she has made a name for herself as one of the top singers in the country (Alice is even a fan of hers) she is a drop out who spent more time at the soda fountain and Mister Kaufman's office then she did in class. Pete Dixon is angered when she jokes about that and convinces her to come talk to the students about NOT dropping out. Apparently his magic worked too well, she gives a great inspiring speech but also falls for Pete. Liz has the green eyed monster of jealousy gnawing at her soul (Alice tries to help them both but comes across as an irritating buttinsky!). In the end our two Walt Whitman lovebirds are back together with the traditional happy ending!
