Jim Rockford's California private investigator license is seen in a close-up shot: License number 463025; Height: 6'; Weight: 195; Age: 37. James Garner's actual height is 6'2". And at the time this episode was filmed, he was 46 years old. Since no issue date appears on the license, a viewer cannot determine when Jim Rockford was actually age 37.
"The Rockford Files" was renowned for attracting and casting some of the best (and more expensive) guest stars throughout its run. This episode is no exception, with Joseph Cotten and Sharon Gless. However, the producers got off somewhat easy with the casting of Gless--which cost the show very little in comparison to most well-known stars--since Gless was already under contract to Universal as a contract player. In 1974, the year this episode was made, Gless had a newly signed 10-year Universal Studios contract. (One of three--"The Rockford Files" production companies being the others.) By 1982, she was the last-ever remaining studio contract player in American film/television.
When Rockford goes to a party to meet Sharon Gless, there are several people dancing poolside. It is the exact same shot lifted from Columbo (Any Old Port in a Storm) episode.
As stated elsewhere, the original broadcast of this episode was a single 90-minute episode. Assuming that scenes were inserted or expanded in each part of this story in order to turn the original 90-minute episode into two 1-hour episodes for syndication. The first car chase of Episode 1 runs a total of 5 minutes/37 seconds (4:33 - 10:10). One of many extended car chases or car rides occurring in this episode. In Part 2, the recap of Part 1 lasts 7 minutes/15 seconds (0:01 - 07:15)--an extremely long time for an episode recap. Also inserted are scenes of mainframe computers taking forever to calculate some helpful data and scenes of bad dancing (really bad dancing!) at parties, clubs, and discos.
Luis Delgado is seen in two uncredited roles in this episode. First, as the driver of the red convertible that Jim taps on the bumper at the parking lot, and then as 'Louie' at the taco stand.
