Other than the fight scene- this episode was solid.

When Pedro Sanchez, a native Mexican descendant of the New Mexico Territory, is brutally shot outside his home the old ways of the Mexican people are called upon. Instead of the law handling the problem the Mexican people call for their own justice in the form of a gunfighter named Baranca. And Baranca is looking for a man named Hadley.

When Baranca arrives in North Fork ready to kill Hadley, Lucas will stand up for the law of the land instead of the old ways. This will lead to a showdown between Lucas and Baranca.

The story was very interesting but for some reason the writers threw in a fight scene that was more comical than realistic. If you can overlook that bizarre scene, this story was entertaining. Even Mark's tooth problem gave the show a nice touch.

    interesting episode

Seemed like it may have been like a pilot for a show featuring a Mexican Cheyenne type character. The fight scene did seem a bit out of place, but I have seen real fist fights that ended up in a draw.

    Baranca

This was a really good episode. I also feel like it was potentially a backdoor pilot ("Baranca's Law"). Baranca was an excellently written and executed character. Smooth, brave, with a bit of a sense of humor. And that fist fight might have been one of the best I've ever seen on television. Probably would have been a show that wouldn't have lasted during that time, however.

Fun fact# Cesare Danova was discovered by the legendary Dino De Laurentiis. Also, he is Italian, not Latino.

When Micah leaves the office to ride out of town, he mounts up and rides. That is not Paul Fix but a double who is taller than Fix.
    • Goofs
At the 19:04 mark, when Baranca is walking back to Lucas after being punched, the bottom of a background flat painted to look like a street scene is plainly visible where it meets the floor of the set.

Lucas McCain: Everything must be done according to the law.
