Great start to a epic show that gets better but falters towards the end.

This is probably my fourth or fifth time watching this series, for me personally its up there with my other faves like The Wire, The Sopranos, and a little known Irish Crime Drama called Love/Hate. I'm saddened by the other review on this episode stating there was no comedy and that he enjoyed CSI and NCIS more. Also comparing this to Sirens is a complete joke considering rescue me aired in 2004, TEN whole years before Sirens even came to be. This reviewer is clearly very stupid, the special thing about this show is that it can have you laughing your rear off one moment and in tears the next, not many shows are able to do this anymore and IMO Rescue Me was one of the best shows to ever do this. To say there is no comedy in these episodes is laughable, it sounds like this reviewer barely paid any attention to the pilot and gave up on the show before it even started. Good Riddance.

Masculine jokes, masculine dialog. Watching this the first time in 2019.

Warning: Spoilers
Based on what this Pilot ( Guts ) has to offer, Tommy giving a speech in the beginning of rookie firemen, he sits back in his truck seeing a dead vision of Jimmy Keefe. How many shows introduce us the ghost talking , that seems have gone pretty popular even these days now. I wonder if that is a good thing in this show, yet..

We get the introduction to the rest of the firehouse characters. Someone new Mike, the New Mike says his italian.

Everybody put a prize pool bet on Tommy's divorce.

We get to see some first initial fire action going on, nothing too much until the female shrink comes and offers time to talk. Tommy says that nobody wants to talk to a shrink , especially a female. I didn't get why the rest of the team was listening from the door but let that be that.

Until then, the next episode Gay review ! See you then !

Poor writing

Hoping for something fresh, I watched the pilot of this series touted as a comedy-drama. Out of the 44 odd minutes of the episode there were literally only 2 times that a hint of comedy was introduced. The episode was painfully boring. I have seen more comedy in strictly drama based shows like NCIS, CSI, and Law & Order. Don't come in expecting there to be any new material or compelling story lines except for the post 09/11 tributes. Leary's a divorced man jealous of his ex's new boyfriend and he turns into a bit of a stalker. Wow how unoriginal. If you are looking for more comedy than drama watch USA's Sirens airing on Netflix. Leary was a writer on Sirens, and my guess is he saved all the jokes for this, that he left out of Rescue Me.
