    The woman in the child

In my opinion this episode is alright. I really enjoyed watching it because it's quite funny, but I don't think the theme 'being between child and woman' really belongs into a western.

    Child Labor

This Rawhide story concerns some relatives of Mushy's, a mother and daughter who work in Cesar Romero's saloon. Mother Dorothy Morris is dying and she wants her 15 year old daughter back with her more respectable relatives.

Because he's a father of girls Gil Favor takes an interest in the situation. But she's a star attraction at the saloon and Romero doesn't want to let her go. Makes for a dandy concentration.

The episode barely skirts the issue of child labor and a 15 year old girl working a saloon raises all kinds of issues. Not for family viewing.

    Bad episode

The woman playing the 15-year-old is obviously in her 20's. She's a terrible actress to boot. It was a stupid story on top of everything else.

Wishbone: What are you doing getting all doodled up? You ain't pretending you know any girls.

Mushy: Oh no, Mr Wishbone. I got cousins in town. My Ma said if we come through Buffalo Wells that I should look up Cousin Laverne and Cousin Posey.

Wishbone: You're getting all doodled up and shaved just to see a couple of cousins?

Mushy: Well, Cousin Laverne is an important female. She's an actress.

Wishbone: No. Oh, you're telling me a windie, Mushy. There isn't any theatre in Buffalo Wells.

Mushy: Oh, yes, you must be mistaken, Mr Wishbone, begging your pardon. But she acts in a big theatre called the Longhorn.

Wishbone: You poor beknighted idiot. That's a saloon.
