John Hart and Nina Shipman in Perry Mason (1957)

Trivia

The Case of the Thermal Thief

Perry Mason

Edit
The last of six shows that don't include Perry Mason as the attorney of record. As in the others, Raymond Burr is replaced by another actor. In this episode, Barry Sullivan plays the defense attorney Ken Kramer. According to newspapers from January 1965, Burr was recovering from surgery for a jaw infection when this episode and the one with Mike Connors were filmed.
As of 2007, the Dirigo II yacht, featured in the Dion home movie in this episode, was available for charter out of Long Beach, CA. The boat has had restorations and minor changes since the 1964 filming.
Barry Sullivan was one of several guest actors to play the defense attorney in Perry Mason's absence. Other actors to step in (during five previous episodes without Perry) were Bette Davis, Walter Pidgeon, Hugh O'Brian, Mike Connors, and Michael Rennie.
Early in the episode, Lona Upton (Kathie Browne) drives a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible. That was the first "full" model year, and this is the first use of a Mustang in the show.
"Lona Upton's" (Kathie Browne's) license plate on her Ford Mustang is "DEM 265." The plate will be seen again on "Mirna Lawrence's" (Carole Wells') car, a Triumph roadster, in The Case of the Golden Venom (1965), the very next episode.
