The new doctor and his pretty wife arrive. They are enthusiastic at first, but reality starts to set in. One has to remember what a strange place this is, Cicely, and so as he encounters each of the natives, his yCalifornia roots make for some interesting encounters. Ed and his shaman training are at the tip. He also meets Marilyn to discuss her accounting methods (which are non-existent). Once again he comes from normal western society. In the secondary part of the episode, we are introduced to the Sons of the Tundra, a snobby business group that Holling has wanted to be part of. They are a cigar smoking, high living bunch who are judgmental and mean spirited. Holling and Shelly get into a bit of a spat. Maurice has his reasons for being part of this, mostly economical.
