Important episode.

I gave this episode a rating of 8. It probably doesn't deserve more than a 6 but it is a transition piece, and if viewed with that in mind it has value. The previous episode, The Quest was a death knell for the show. That was a disaster. I began watching the show when it originally aired but missed most episodes because of work schedules. I remember when Rob Morrow wanted to leave the show and what a big effect it had. Now watching these episodes it becomes clear he was the glue. The magic was gone. Dr. And Mrs Capra couldn't retain the magic. Watch with an open mind , a valiant effort that falls short. It just runs out of gas. All the pieces are there but their heart isn't in it.

Any and Chris? Hope Not!
Hitchcoc16 April 2024
The Capras are having real issues with some land they bought. They had intended to put a house on it, but they are cash poor. Soon a series of events take place that lead to an anxiety attack and a bit of disrespect to the citizenry. Meanwhile, Maurice, being the selfish jerk he is, tries to begin to give gifts to Holling's little girl, Randi. It's so obvious that he is doing this for the creepiest of motivations. He will not have children, and he is really overstepping. Chris is putting moves on Maggie and she seems to be accepting the moves. I guess there could be worse things, but Chris is hardly a gem--too self centered and esoteric.

Lucky People

While Cicelians honor Founders Day, newcomers Phil & Michelle experience buyers' remorse over purchasing a 60-acre wilderness vista. Holling balks at Maurice's claim that Randi is his reincarnated Uncle Elvy. Chris & Maggie find a common bond while restoring Cicely and Roslyn's antique automobile.

Single stocking lapel, hidden meaning?

I watched this series in real time back in the early 90's, when we had to wait a week for a new episode. I absolutely adored the series and considered it a classic. I'm watching it for the 3 time around (possibly 4th) and it totally stands up! Although, there is a heavy-handed Pharma influence that I never noticed before, this is one of the best series to date. I am curious if there is a hidden message behind the towns folk wearing a single knitted sock on their clothing. In reading a previous review from March, perhaps it may signify Rob Morrow's leave from the show and a missing link. I still love this series and miss shows of it's caliber.
