Rob Roy Fingerhead...?
kevinolzak31 December 2013
"Monkees a la Mode" finds the group the subject of 'Chic Magazine,' run by Madame Quagmeyer (Patrice Wymore), whose twit photographer, Rob Roy Fingerhead (Eldon Quick), who despises the band, writes an article that destroys their reputation around town. When Madame Quagmeyer decides to present them with an award for 'Typical Young Americans of the Year,' they take the opportunity to prove who really deserves the 'honor' (no doubt similar to what happened when the NBC brass were introduced to the group in real life!) Pretty Valerie Kairys, frequently seen extra in previous episodes, finally gets a substantial role, playing a sympathetic magazine writer. This is the second airing for The Tokens' composition "Laugh," produced by Jeff Barry, and the third for Michael Nesmith's 1966 production of his own "You Just May Be the One." Broadcast no. 24 (Feb 27 1967), "Monkees a la Mode" was 28th in production, filmed Jan 10-12.
