In one shot, Monk is opening the single-use camera box. In the next shot, the box is sealed and he opens it again.
When Monk & Sharona get on the trolley car, footage of one with the number 23 on the front is shown. When the trolley slows down and Sharona's voice says "This is where they need to get off," the trolley shown has the number 19 on the front.
Monk said that he missed the start of his high school race because his laces were uneven. However, in the flashback shot, his shoes were wide open and the laces in his hands were overly long: the shoes weren't laced up at at all, apart from the first holes.
The camera that Monk is holding at the beginning of the episode (one of two he bought) is a Fujifilm Quick Snap single use camera that sells for about $12 on the street. To zoom in on the man with the uneven buttons as he does, he would need a reflex camera with a zoom lens. A single use camera wouldn't do it.
Monk refers to competing in a 1500-meter race when he was in high school in May 1974. At that time, American track and field was not using the metric system; changing to metric distances did not start until 1978. The 1974 race would most likely have been a mile.

In Gwen's apartment, the mail that Monk looks at includes a Bayphone telephone bill. The area code on the phone number is shown as 416. That code is the one for Toronto (where this season's episodes are filmed).
When Monk is in Gwen's apartment and sees her mail, the addresses on two of the documents aren't the same. Her North Cal Bank statement says Suite 1324, but her California Dept of Unemployment Insurance document says Suite 1924.
When Monk and Nathalie stop to investigate the marathon path around 26 minutes in, a filming light is visible on the right edge of the screen when Nathalie stops the stopwatch.
The show takes place in San Francisco. At the end, you can see a building that says the Canadian Press with big numbers 34-36. This is on King Street in Toronto.
When Monk and Sharona are in the park investigating one of the checkpoints, the CN Tower in Toronto is visible in the background in some of the shots that overlook the water in the background.
The killer is found due to the smell of the chamomile bush, but nobody seems to smell that he is a smoker, which is a stronger clue.
Monk says that he will have the lab check for chamomile at the crime scene. However, he is standing in chamomile when he says it, and he immediately returns to the crime scene, so if the lab finds any, they can't prove it came from the killer.
