    Squeeze play

Albert Zembra, head of the Mediterranean branch of the Syndicate, is dying of cancer and plans on passing his list of opium farms to his chosen successor. He plans on turning power over to Carlos Empori, engaged to his granddaughter.

Paris poses as a mobster - who had a facial surgery due to a car accident - and old friend of Eve's and ""renews"" his friendship with her, while Phelps, as Zembra's rival, warns Carlos that Paris plans to take over. Barney stages a fake assassination on Zembra, thwarting Carlos' security and making him look incompetent, then Paris and Paris-as-Zembra stage a conversation to make Carlos believe Zembra will give power to Paris.

Carlos helps Jim kidnap Eve, but the plan goes awry when Eve reveals she knows Paris is a fake. Paris puts his life on the line by counting on her silence to complete the plot.

Another killer episode featuring Albert Paulsen as Zembra and he delivers a riotous performance. He might be dying from cancer but he still rules with an iron fist and knows how to shout the house down. Nico Minardos plays Carlos and he's engaged to the pretty Eve (Victoria Vetri) who is visibly not keen on him. Nor does she like the murders that happen. But she has to follow the Mafia tradition and marry a hood like her grandfather. Paris counts on her silence in the nail biting finale. A typically well constructed tale.

    Sicilian mission

That's not so usual that our MI team has to fight against the mob, the syndicate; although maybe not the first time either. Anyway, that changes from the recurrent Behind the Iron Curtain missions. Besides this, nothing really exceptional here. But the Syndicate has a real face: the Sicilian connection, and not only an obscure faceless organization.

    • Goofs
Barney (Greg Morris) is held in the wine cellar after making an assassination attempt on Albert Zembra (Albert Paulsen). When he blows open the cellar door with a small explosive, a man rushes into the room and engages in a brief fistfight. During the fight sequence, a stunt man is clearly substituted for Greg Morris.
