Warning: Spoilers
This episode opens with the team arresting a drug dealer with a kilo of cocaine in his car; it looks like an open and shut case but his lawyer notices a typo on the search warrant; an M instead of and N has ruled the warrant invalid and the dealer walks. They should have more chances though as Gina is undercover; that is until she is fed some information that when acted upon exposes her. If they are to get their man they will have to persuade the lawyer's junior partner to see just what sort of person she is working for. The lawyer isn't just representing somebody he knows to be a drug dealer but tries to rip him off to pay off a debt to another client; a man who appears to be connected to the Mafia!

This was a classic episode of Miami Vice; we have drugs, corruption, the Mafia and some fairly spectacular action. This action included shootouts and a spectacular explosion. The regular cast all performed well as did the guest stars who included Amanda Plummer and Tony Sirico, best known as Paulie from 'The Sopranos'. The story is engrossing from start to finish and there are a few twist; some expected, others less so. Overall this was a fine episode that fans of the series should really enjoy.

Has to be one of the best of Miami Vice
dangkoen22 February 2008
This is one of my favorites from season 5, along with "Line Of Fire" and "Freefall".

The episode starts with a slick lawyer being able to set his client, a criminal, free due to a typing mistake by Switek. Later on, the lawyer steals the drugs of his client to pay off some mobsters he owes a debt to.

Notice Stephen McHattie as the lawyer and Amanda Plummer as his assistant. McHattie does a great job, but Plummer stands out in this episode along with Don Johnson and Saundra Santiago. The episode really kept me focused at the screen and I am pretty sure other viewers had the same experience. An episode every hardcore Vice-fan should embrace, definitely worth checking out!

Sub par but still does it!

Warning: Spoilers
Fruit of the Poison Tree was a sub par but still makes the cut! What does not work for season five seem to have a lower budget. The car, planes and other movie quality shots are out on this episode. The script writers are running out of ideas. The quality of directing was a bit on the down side. What works: Well too compensate for the budget, script idea shortfalls was creativity with characters, and plot twists. These was a crime lawyer who get into trouble with the Paulie character from the Sopranos and does some dastardly deeds. The lawyers, well, do not follow the client privilege or handling the clients funds in a ethical manner. Amanda Plumber was another lawyer who brings a strong character plot twists performance which keeps the viewer engaged. Johnson does his best as the strong character with the limited material to save and episode on the final seasons slide. More like a murder mystery episode then a Vice episode. Not bad but not great either. 6 stars.
