Ben's client is business partners with a murdered woman's husband. Ben suspects the husband as the real murderer.

A businessman suspects that not only is his wife having an affair but that his business partner is his wife's illicit lover. He kills his wife and frames the partner. Ben believes the husband is the real killer, but proving it will be difficult, as the husband is a paraplegic, and Ben has to explain how he could reach the wife's bedroom upstairs.—Purl Diver

Matlock sees no angle to defend his client, businessman Bret Howell, the obvious only suspect for the murder at her home of his lover, the wife of paraplegic advertisement agency partner Alex Gordon. However, detective work shows the fresh widower in a wheelchair has worked up strong enough pecs in gym to get around and booked a different room possibly to sneak out easily to his home. Not being the heir to her fortune, a motive is less clear, and he cleverly tries to dispose of evidence, so Matlock must outsmart him.—KGF Vissers

Matlock has to take the case of Alex Gordon, the paraplegic man who actually killed his wife. When Michelle and Conrad visited Alex's house, to overhear the conversation of their boss's client, who didn't do it, he explicitly yelled at them, telling Michelle and Conrad to both get out of his house!
