Trivia
This borrows a number of points from All the President's Men (1976). There is a Deep Throat character, a "follow the money" assertion, and a 'special signal' for initiating clandestine meetings. Ben even mentions the movie.

Goofs
When the attorney general asks if he has ever prosecuted a case before, Matlock says no. In fact, during an episode flashback (season 6), Matlock is shown prosecuting a case at the start of his career. After this, he tells his father he wants to quit his job as prosecutor and become a defense attorney.
