Homer Fleming, the clown, asks Ben Matlock to represent him, while he's accused of killing his partner, Simon. When Conrad told Matlock he was interested in doing investigative work, while attending the circus, Matlock finds out that everybody had a good mind of hating Simon Le Simple.
