In the final scene of the series' finale, as Martin walks out of the apartment, and takes one last look, he stops at the door, picks up a marker and writes "1 LUV" on the wall. He signs it "Martin L". "L" is in reference to the actor's real last name, Lawrence. The character's last name was Payne.
