Al tries to get a new car!
Sylviastel1 June 2009
When Al's beloved Dodge might be on death's door, he goes to his hiding spot to collect his savings hidden from the family. Unfortunately, Peggy has already beaten him to it and spends it like crazy and leaves behind a trail of receipts. Al wants a beautiful car that he has rightfully earned from working long days at the shoe store at a job he hates but he doesn't have any options. Marcy gives advice that he could a bicycle to work. The dealer gives him a reality check where he has to drive a car just as old and bad as his Dodge like the Gremlin and Pinto. Al wants his Dodge back. This is not of the most memorable episodes at the time.

Poor Al.
BA_Harrison8 November 2022
Al Bundy's luck is rarely in, and it's usually very funny, but this is one of those episodes that makes one really feel for the bloke: they push him so far that he almost loses the plot entirely.

When his old Dodge finally gives up the ghost, Al decides that it is time to buy a new car -- and he means 'new', not a second-hand heap but something shiny and unused from a showroom. For the deposit, he digs up the savings he has kept buried in the back yard: a cool $5000. However, when Bud opens the box for his dad, he only finds $800. And a red hair.

Peggy's thoughtlessness and selfishness goes too far this time: it turns out that she has helped herself to Al's car fund and spent it on luxuries for herself. I think that would be it for most marriages. Al, however, simply puts on a brave face and tries to convince himself that he's a winner by buying another Dodge, just like his old one. The poor guy.
