    Anthrax the Band!

When Bud and Kelly win a dinner and show with Anthrax, they have to get their parents, Al and Peggy out of town. They decide to send them to Florida for a weekend where they are constantly bothered by time share salesman played by Fred Willard. Edd Byrnes, star of Sunset Strip, also lives there. But in the meantime, Chicago is under a blizzard of epic proportion and there is no food in the house except Peggy's mystery meat. While the band, Anthrax, gets there early in time, they are hungry and there is only Bud and Kelly and Marcy instead of fifty people. Oh well, the episode is quite funny especially since Al doesn't have $6 for a down payment. Al and Peg realize that their children have given them a trip to the swamps for a weekend.

    Perfect episode!

This episode is great from start to finish. Kelly and Bud get along and work together very well. Peg is wanting some lovin from Al and he's dreading it, per usual. Anthrax rocks out and are pretty funny too. But the stand out is Marcy! This is my favorite episode of the entire series because of her. She is absolutely hilarious and shows that crazier/weird side that she lets out every now and then. This is my go to episode for a guaranteed laugh.

R.I.P. Fred Willard and Edd "Kookie" Byrnes

Watching this episode now has a sad effect as guest stars Fred Willard and Edd Byrnes passed away in early 2020.

It's the Bundy's 20th wedding anniversary and Peggy has one thing on her mind: the deed Al fears most. Meanwhile Bud has won a radio contest Dinner with Anthrax where the heavy metal band will entertain a party of 50. Bud and Kelly scheme to get the old folks out of the house by sending them on a "free" Florida vacation.

Classic Al moment. To prepare himself for the amorous Peggy, Al brought a briefcase full of Big 'Uns to reach the "Let's Rock" moment. Just as the Bundy's get down to business in bursts condo salesman Willard and celebrity sidekick Byrnes who tosses out combs. Funny stuff from the always humorous Willard and Byrnes playing off his "77 Sunset Strip" fame.

Chicago's worst blizzard ever ruins the party leaving a bored Anthrax stuck with Bud, Kelly and Macy (who has a few good Marcy moments). The band dares to eat Peggy's mystery package in the fridge. Oh, the colors!

A wild and funny episode with a great ending.

    Metal thrashing mad!

For their 20th wedding anniversary, Al gives Peggy a postcard. She demands romance and sex to make up for his thoughtlessness.

Meanwhile, Bud wins a competition to have thrash metal band Anthrax come to his house to play at a party for him and fifty of his friends. Kelly and Bud send their parents on a surprise vacation to Florida to get them out of the way, Peggy and Al unaware that the trip is a time-share scam.

Back in Chicago, the kids welcome Anthrax into their home, but a snowstorm means that none of Bud's friends can make it to the party.

I've been a thrash metal fan since the '80s, so seeing Anthrax guest starring in one of my favourite TV shows was great fun. When Anthrax eat Peggy's mystery pack in the fridge, they begin to trip out and then rock out, trashing the Bundy home in the process. Bud and Kelly mosh to the music and even Marcy joins in with the mayhem!

I haven't a clue who Edd 'Kookie' Byrnes is (he was apparently in a show called Sunset Strip, which I'm not sure was shown this side of the pond), but he gets to sing a cheesy song (his show's theme?) with Anthrax at the end.

    • Trivia
The Anthrax contest and subsequent house-thrashing is actually based on real events: in 1989 MTV's "Headbangers Ball" held a contest where Anthrax would visit the winner's house. On 23 May 1989, Anthrax did, and they spontaneously thrashed the place, as documented in "Headbangers Ball Uncensored".

[the band Anthrax looks into the Bundy's refrigerator which is empty]

Anthrax Band Member: Wow, the desolation.

Anthrax Band Member: It's not totally empty. There's a Chia Pet in there.

Bud Bundy: Uh, that... That's not a Chia Pet. Uh, that was a meat loaf. But, uh, there's always Mom's aluminum-foil-wrapped mystery pack.

[the band grabs the aluminum wrapped package and begins eating the contents]

Bud Bundy: [to Kelly] Oh, wow. They're gonna eat the mystery pack. Even Dad won't eat the mystery pack. These guys are cool!

Anthrax Band Member: Wow, the colors. The colors.

Anthrax Band Member: Is your hunk moving?

Anthrax Band Member: Oh, it's biting me!

Anthrax Band Member: If it came out of the fridge, why is it hot?

Anthrax Band Member: I see 50 people now. Let's jam.
