Col. Potter observes this is his 3rd war (WWI , WW2 then Korea) and says he hopes the trend of wars getting smaller continues.
However, WW2 was larger than WW1 - even if only the European theatre is used.

Radar claims the closest television to where his family lives in Iowa is about 50 miles away... a two hour drive using the '41 Chevy he's attempting to fix up or an hour by foot. No human being can travel at 50 mph on foot. Average walking speed is roughly 3 mph, meaning this journey would take nearly 17 hours.
On the other hand, the joke here is that it's a 50 mile drive, but not a 50 mile walk, alluding to the spareness of Iowa roads.

When viewing this episode on DVD, it is in black and white as mentioned at the beginning of the episode. However, when streaming it on Hulu, the episode is in color, but the notice of the episode being in black and white is still said at the beginning.
Update: This episode on Hulu is also black and white. The original goof may have been posted on this episode by accident, because there is a two-parter in a few seasons that is in color.
B.J. says that he did three amputations before his first breakfast at the 4077th. However, in "Welcome to Korea," after a stop at Rosie's Bar, B.J. arrives the camp literally almost fall-down drunk. He certainly would not have been in a state to perform surgery before the following morning. However, the reporter indicates at the end that enemy attacks often start at dawn, and the first casualties would have arrived at the 4077th just before breakfast -- giving B.J. enough time to burn or sleep off his drinks.
